I had been using the Faber's series with one of my students and thus, have had several new topics to introduce to him each week. We are taking a break from this for a few weeks and starting using the Celebration series right before Christmas holiday.

Now there is no subject to show teach him each week. I feel like I am missing out on something, like he's not receiving a full lesson.

Can anyone suggest ways I can bring up a different subject each week so he's not "just" learning pieces of music? (e.g. a guide of topics to show a 9 year old student who's been taking music for 1 1/2 years and is a very quick and eager learner)

Gisele, do you have the teacher handbook for the Celebration Series? That will help with what order to introduce the music and specific things to discuss. CS, however, is not really a method book.

You will want to use a supplementary theory book, technical exercises, scales, and sight reading materials.

Gisele, it's been a long time since I last looked at the series, but as I recall, they have a teacher's guide book. You might check on-line or with your music dealer to confirm this.

Thanks; I will look for that guide book. I didn't realize that there was one.

The Celebration series includes three books - repertoire, studies, and student workbooks, as well as a teacher guide.

It's also meant to be supplemented with theory books, and the same publisher offers several options.
