What is this, other than some kind of Yamaha?

The seller bought it from a technician/dealer a few months ago for about the price she's trying to get now (selling for personal reasons, not piano-related ones): http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/msg/2785365420.html

Looks like some sort of short studio. A P2? For the price it might be quite old.

I have seen some Everett pianos but never one that said Yamaha on the fall board. Is this a picture of the piano that is for sale?

That's the actual picture. She has no idea what she bought.

Yamaha had an assembly plant in the Everett factory from the mid to late 1970's. The casework In the photo has some very American features.
If the lid opens freely, the action rails will be aluminum if Japanese and wooden if American. If the lid does not open freely on hinges, there are probably studs at the back which can be turned out with a hex wrench. That feature would make it typically an Everett school model.
The strung back would be the same manufacturer as the action. I don't think they ever made interchangeable scale designs.
Get a tech report.

I agree, the case is an Everett case. Perhaps the decal was changed to Yamaha?
