thanks monica. i'm selling my M&H; there's an ad here on Piano World. i've loved that piano and will be sorry to see it go, but it was time to 'go big'.

Entheo, you have found a beauty! Your chosen piano has remarkable clarity and power and what a beautifully tuned piano! Your expressive, musical playing is a joy to hear.
All the best for its safe delivery and happy playing ahead. Robert.

You can't beat that beautiful 7' sound. I have a 7' Yamaha I bought in 1967 and it's still the best piano I've ever played.
Incredibly reliable too.
You'll love it, good luck.
Incidentally, the link sounds wonderful. Is that you playing and what is the piece, I love it.

thanks robert and roger. i wish i could take credit for the recording, but it's the previous owner (a composer & pianist) improvising on the piano to demonstrate its range.

I know it's agony waiting for the new piano to arrive. And I know you're going to enjoy it.

Our first piano has sort of taken 2-3 weeks to arrive. I picked it out at a local dealer and put down a deposit but had them hold it until closer to Christmas since it is our family's special "treat". Tomorrow is the big day!
My mom and my sister's family are coming over on Christmas Eve to welcome the new grand into the family...and to eat a whole bunch of food too...

That seems like a very powerful and versatile instrument. If you can't get it done with that piano it can't be done.

Congrats- at that size, I'm sure it will sound nice, and a good C7 in good condition can be a versatile instrument!

Wow, congratulations!! It looks a little familiar... okay, a lot familiar! I like the wood-grain inner rim. My C7 has the satin ebony inner rim. Wishing you all the best!! Rick

Congratulations, it sounds and looks wonderful! Tell us more about your search please! it's been a long journey mr. magic. i'm frankly shocked to end up with a yamaha; i've not been partial to their sound but then i played a new yamaha xa and was blown away. only two pianos prior to this C7 (other than my M&H model A, which sold on consignment almost immediately) plucked my heartstrings -- a used steinway at steinway hall (but no room for negotiation and overpriced IMHO) and the yamaha xa. and then this C7 comes up on ebay from a composer in LA who has two of them and is selling the older of the two (an '05); the demo sound file is amazing (link provided earlier in this thread), the price is right, so i hop a plane from chicago to LA and audition it, et voila -- she's now in my house as we begin our beautiful friendship, to paraphrase rick from casablanca.

Very cool, thank you.
This indeed is one of the nicest sounding Yamahas I've heard, as I have (should I say 'had'?) the same opinion about Yamaha sound.

That piano sounds lovely! Adding a C7 to list of pianos to try out when I get a chance to head to Los Angles or S.F. again. I played a couple of smaller Yamaha's and didn't care for the tone that much but loved that sound demo.
Oh and congratulations on getting such a fine piano.

i've come to find out that the C7 is an overwhelming choice for recording studios, and i'm now happily discovering why. the clarity and dynamic range across the keyboard are quite literally breathtaking.

Absolutely beautiful!!!
I am glad Monica asked her question. I wondered about it too. I imagined it to be some fancy "climate control" device!

She's a beaut, Entheo. I gotta ask: What's that round thing on the floor at the right hand side of the photo? Some kind of fancy colored lights? that's my star trek transporter specifically for pianos. much easier to move pianos with that thing. but seriously -- it's a round power strip. i use it to plug in my Zoom Q3 when i'm recording
