I am looking at getting my first piano. I found a used 2005 Kawai Rx-2 for $6100 delivered. I called Kawai and confirmed that it does have the balance of the warranty left (till 2015). I went to take a look at the piano and it's a little more scratched with a couple of dings/nicks here and there. I don't mind the scratches if the price is good. Is this this a good price or it's in the ballpark of a used 6 year old RX2? There's only one Kawai dealer where I live, but they didn't give me a "going" price on a new one over the phone. I have no basis to compare at all. I'm in the Boston area.

Thanks

That seems pretty good to me, if it's in good shape and sounds nice. I sent ya a PM.

It does sound like a really good price... but the scratches and dings sound a little suspicious for it to be so new.

Even though it is offered at a great price, I'd suggest having it checked out by an independent piano technician not affiliated with the dealer.

Good luck!

Rick

That's so cheap it's suspicious, but keep doing your homework and you should be fine.

Very good price. New RX-2 BLAK is easily 3x or 4x that.

If all else, have a furniture refinisher come and touch up the dings. Perhaps a dealer in the area could steer you to someone specializing in pianos.

Congratulations on getting the Kawai RX2! If it is an ebony gloss finish, there should not be too much trouble or expense in having the nicks and dings repaired.
It seems that you have got an excellent piano at a bargain price.

Enjoy your new piano!

Robert.

I think I know the exact piano you just bought. It's from Rte 9, right? Anyway, congrats!

I was going to say the same thing. What does a new Kawai Rx-2 BLAK go for these days?
