Very nice! That's a great piano. Congratulations!!! love the music rack. Don't know about the scratching though. But make sure they don't destroy the piano bench

Many congratulations on the new instrument! Our cat does not scratch the finish on my Schimmel, but I keep his claws trimmed and he's lightweight and pretty careful. He does hop up on the piano from time to time when he gets bored. I attribute most of the few scratches/mars it has to careless human behavior...mostly with a vacuum cleaner.
Since the cat is not scared of the piano's sound, I'm going to have to keep my grand closed when not in use once it gets delivered. I can see him wanting to climb into the confined spaces of the belly of the thing!

Congratulations!
I have to keep my piano closed when I'm not near it, otherwise the cats get inside it. But cats sleeping on top of the piano, or walking around on it, have never done any damage, and mine have very sharp claws!

Beautiful piano. I LOVE the music desk.
FYI, my late kitty never scratched my piano's finish, but my piano was satin walnut.

My outgoing Yamaha also had a satin walnut finish and they loved to sit on it. It was the tallest vantage point in the room. I never noticed any scratches. The new piano is again the tallest thing in the room, and the oh so shiny surface seems like it would show the least insult. I did find a thin long scratch on the side, so it can happen.
These guys are 10 and 11 years old and they still fly all over the place and love to climb and jump. The piano will be completely closed when I'm not home!

Looks good. I'm curious is that a window or a light to the left of the piano keyboard?

To the left of the keyboard is a picture window with frosted glass. It hits the keyboard from the southwest for a couple of hours a day - at least at this time of year.

Congratulations on your beautiful new piano! I don't think the cat will scratch the finish. Mine climbs on my piano all the time. I have to remember to keep the lid closed when I'm not playing or she will get inside on the strings. I just wipe the paw prints off with a soft damp cloth now and then.

Thank you but there are no vents below the windows.
I have an old and modest house.

What a great looking piano. We only had dogs so no experience with cats in the piano.

Ah, that is actually about 3 feet away and doesn't blow directly on the piano.
I do appreciate folks looking out for each other though!

Congratulations on your selection of quality AND style.
The Brodmann 187 is one of my favorite pianos.
I am waiting to receive one in the same style as yours and it was nice to get a better look thanks to your pictures.
One question I had concerns the bench. The legs will usually be round if the piano legs are round.
Is it possible the dealer might have a bench with round legs still in a box and not realize it?

Good eye! I'll check on it.
Your videos helped me with my piano market research.

As others have mentioned, please be careful of cats around grand pianos.
Owners sometimes think that cats cannot go to places where they certainly can!
Keep the lid closed (completely) since as technician I have a few cat stories...

yes, the piano is completely closed when not in use.
My daughter clips her cat's claws and she has just as many pulls in her furniture as I do, so I don't bother. If they ever got out by accident they would need those claws.
The first day they were apprehensive about the large black thing (it has a new smell as well) and only looked under it. Last night they started checking out the top. I suspect as they get more comfortable with it, they will leave tiny scratches.
I'm debating whether to get a piano cover. I don't like they way they look and seem like one more thing to take care of and to collect dust. My first teacher had a cover on hers and it became quite soiled and yucky. It was large enough to cover her Steinway B, so no sticking it in the washer or the bathtub to clean.
