I just wanted to tell you how helpful this forum has been in my search for a piano for my sons. This is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to purchase a piano. More than a few occasions I've found a piano on line and immediately used the search option here to find related threads. They were immensely helpful.

We bought a Petrof P125F1, with what looks like Renner action, 12 years old according to the serial. The owner said they had it for less than ten. It is mint condition and not played much, if any at all, though perhaps this was not such a good thing as it requires tuning and some regulation on at least a few of the bass keys. But our piano teacher likes the sound. We did not get a tech to inspect it, which I know is risky, but we had to act fast because of the name, the age, and the asking price of the piano. So it's in our living room now, and the kids are very excited.

Thanks to all who've been so helpful in this so-very daunting process.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad and relieved it's done. One thing I will say is that I am happy I didn't go with a gray market Yamaha. I just couldn't reconcile with spending $3-4k on a 30+ year old piano. This piano might even inspire me to learn to play,...one day.

I don't think you will be able to resist very long. smile

And congratulations! I haven't played alot of uprights, but of the ones I have, Petrof was one of the very finest.

Edit: I should say that I haven't played alot of GOOD uprights.
