Thank you for all of the help so far regarding the Boston UP-118S. I am starting to lean towards a brand new piano for a bit more money, specifically the Kawai K3 and have an opportunity to buy one from a local authorized dealer with full warranty for $4800. I don't know how the discounting on these pianos work, so please tell me if this is a good, great, or just OK deal. Of course he wants sales tax (7%) and $200 for residential delivery (no steps).

Thanks, Erik

I just bought one for $4500 + tax, free delivery and they threw in 8 lessons, and an extra tuning. But i think $4800 is a good price, I haven't seen any postings around what I paid. I would probably get them to throw in delivery. Where are you located?

Hi Timcar,

I'm in northern NJ. Where are you located? It seems like you got a very good deal. Thanks for your quick reply. That's the kind of sanity check I was looking for. Hopefully some more people will chime in.

Best, Erik

$4800 with delivery , tax and one free tuning would make it a real good deal. Right now it looks like a good deal. And the new K3 would be a definite sep up from the boston you were originally looking at.

Good luck!

In Calgary,AB (Canada) I have seen prices of $5895 for a new K3. Sounds like a nice price. I would try to get them to deliver for free though.

Buy it. I paid $6400 for a K3 one year ago (before tax). Kawai's prices have come down. It's a very good piano.

Thanks Mike. I actually got it for $4500 including delivery which I thought was a pretty darned good deal. Now my wife is talking about getting an RX1 or RX2 smile We'll see what happens...
