This is pretty much my program for Chicago in May.

Please note some of the title names on the page of the video are wrong -- thats because I did not take this recording or upload it. I also played the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 first movement with an accompanist but the uploader couldn't get it uploaded to YT since it's over 15 min.

Bach Prelude & Fugue in C# major Book 1 WTC

Bach Prelude in C# minor Book 1 WTC

Bach Fugue in C# minor Book 1 WTC (has wrong title in the video, lol)

Chopin Etudes Op. 10, No. 1 & 2

Chopin Waltz Op. 42

Chopin Polonaise Op. 53

Chopin Scherzo Op. 31

Mozart Sonata K330

Bravo fuzzy8balls !!!

I envy the control and accuracy of your playing and the nerves.

I am confident that you will advance to the finals if not win the competition.

I would be delighted to hear the concerto.
Hope, your friend can split the concerto in two parts and upload it as well.

Thanks for sharing.

regards,

Thank you for sharing! You play beautifully, and I'm jealous of your technique wink.

Best of luck in your preparations for the competition. I'm sure you will do wonderfully.

great job on Bach Fugue in C# minor Book 1 WTC !!! that is really a fantastic performance. I love how you are one with the tempo, yet open to rubato, find all the themes, bring them out.. Gosh i love this piece. Have i been playing the wrong note you played at minute 4.37) geez..I think I am an idiot. - I'll have to check.

thank you so much.

i play most of these pieces (excluding the scherzo and concerto).. we must have similar taste.. of course you play much more beautifully and i envy your long fingers. Best of luck.

Bravo,bravo, bravo!!!

This is a wonderful performance of the concerto. Both musically and technically.

It won't be a surprise for me if you win the competition.

Congratulations, and I wish the best of luck with the competition.

Thanks all.

Well the good thing is that I don't have to play everything in 90 minutes -- which is what I did in this recital. I think by the end, I was just really, really tired and that led to some memory slips in the concerto (not an excuse though, I still have a lot of work to do on it).

Apple: you are funny. What did you play wrong this whole time? I believe at 4:37 it's a Vsus4 chord with a resolution to 3. Or are you talking about the chord after that which is a C# major with a flat 6 (A natural) -- it does sound kind of odd, like an augmented chord.

It's possible that your edition has a different note -- I know I was listening to a Glenn Gould recording of WTC the other day, and was like WTF was that? That's not the note *I* play! But it was just a difference in the editions. I'm assuming Glenn Gould had a better edition grin.

I have a Henle.. I think Fuzzy just brought out the E# more, the 4th to the last measure, than i do.. it sounds wonderful. I forgot how much i love this fugue. I played it in 2005 and am a much better musician 6 years later.. off to revisit it today. (also the prelude # 5, with is delightful..

( i don't know how to name chords the sophisticated way).. I'll just have to double check.

wow.. you Opus !0 number 1 is pretty sharp too.!!! i have hand issues now,.. a bit of skin restriction due to meds, and that piece is a bit hard to play.. darn it. One really needs a lot of flexibility and stretch for that piece.

too bad you live in San Diego (where i used to live).. I'd take lessons from you if you offered.

I heard your Italian Concerto.. you know, your music makes me really happy... you play what I want to achieve.

I wonder why it is traditional to play orchestral reductions of concertos on nearby pianos.. i think I'd rather play with a recording of actual instruments.

it's distracting to hear how much better you are than her. .. a bit unnerving to have the pianos be of the same volume.

I was thinking the same thing!

Fuzzyballs, will you be able to upload video from the chicago competition? I'd love to hear you play this with the orchestra!

Fuzzy, these are really great. I particularly like the C# major P&F, and the Chopin Waltz. You really make the waltz yours - it's an exciting performance.

What's up with the "copyright claims" on K. 330 though? Did Orchard Music and EMI really pull your recording? Your timing is too similar to some recording of theirs for their likings? It's weird.

Thanks MarkH. I didn't upload the first set of videos -- it seems like the user doesn't know about the "dispute" process. Yes it's just automatically flagged because it has some of the same tags or something -- pretty lame. I'll see if I can upload it separately on my account.

Great playing!

BTW on the Mozart Sonata K330 I get this message

Quote:
This video contains content from the Orchard Music and EMI, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds

Is someone out of his mind at youtube, copyrights on Mozart?? Or is there somethign else going on?

Oops I see that that copyright block was already reported. Pretty lame indeed.

You gotta be kiddin' me! The reach of digital rights management is far and wide! BLOCKED!!! You're going to have to play it without accompaniment! Can you sing the orchestra part as you play? Please use all harmonies as you sing.

Thanks for posting the Mozart again and then again fixing those stupid copyright claims.

Great job on Mozart! And have fun in Chicago!
