Hi, been a long time since i've visited the forum, been busy but hopefully will have time to stick around.

Anyway, been composing for a jazz trio setting, with some other influeces thrown in in the mix, kinda in the vein of EST, Mehldau, Avishai Cohen, etc i guess.

Here it is, http://soundcloud.com/j-guerreiro
1st track is incomplete, working on it at the moment, the other 4 are finished, might do a little polishing in the future.

Would like to hear some comments, opinions, suggestions, good or bad, any feedback is welcome.

Tkx in advance.

These performances are great. I think I particularly like 'Walking on a Tightrope.' These pieces sound to me like investigations into ideas - or landscapes, and as such they work really well, and sound beautiful and evocative.

Can I ask how the drums are played and recorded, or is that a trade secret? I think I'd have put the drums slightly back in the mix - possibly experimenting with different room settings or reverb types. But having said that, I'm clearly not as experienced in this kind of recording as you are.

Tkx a lot! The drums are actually programmed with ezdrummer eheh, it's just demos, but i'm trying to make it sound the best i can, still trying to find the best settings, i'm not really a producer.
I do agree about the drums, something i've noticed as well, definitely gonna experiment with that.

Tkx a lot for listening and for the kind words!

I liked them very much! You have a nice approach on harmony, it sounds always "suspended" and very easy to the ears, even when there is dissonance. I particularly liked your works because they are things i would not / could not compose. Yes, there is an issue with the drums, as said above, but i think it doesn't ruin the experience when listening to the tracks. Congratulations!

Yes, Harmony really fascinates me and its the starting point in my compositon process. I like using common tones, open voicings and sus chords to get that feel u talk about. To me kinda feels like a "connected mood" which is something i like.

Obrigado, Thiago!

I found it very convenient to listen to this Jazz music while learning. Although it´s abit monotone I like it. It´s kind of relaxing and gives you a nice atmosphere. Do you perhaps try different styles of Jazz like experimental or something else?
