Hi guys. So I've been wanting to know, simply put, if there is any simple recording software out there that can record what I'm playing via USB to my computer, but using the piano's own voices?

Is that possible? if so, any recommdations on software? Otherwise, if I can only record midi and use a plugin for the piano voice, what software could easily get this done?

I have a demo of FL Studio 10 on here, got my piano configured so I can use it create sound, but the program as a whole is clearly designed towards people who don't just want to hit record, play something, hit stop and you're done! Basically it's much more than I need. So something a bit simpler would be ideal!

Any replies appreciated!

No there is not. The reason is that your piano does not transmit voice (audio) data through USB. Only MIDI.

If you would like to record your piano's voice, you have to run your line-outs to a line-in of your computer or an external interface and do the analog to digital conversion. Basically, you will have to hit record and then play something, as you describe.

Some pianos will record audio to a USB drive, though. But that's through a USB-To-Device port (type A), not the USB-To-Host (type B), which is what you would plug into your computer.
