Hi, I've been reading this forum for a couple of months now and researching used uprights for my daughters. I just wanted to thank all of you for your valuable recommendations and knowledge. In the end, I chose a Yamaha U1 from Tony Hahm aka pianobroker over at Past Perfect Piano. I'd like to give a special thanks to Tony for taking the time to talk at length with me to answer my questions.
I looked at various pianos before I went to see Tony and I was just amazed at the quality of his U1 over others that I saw. It was immaculate and sounded great! At that point, my search was over.
Now it's sitting in my living room and my girls are thrilled to have a piano in the house!
Thank you!

Congratulations on your piano!! The Yamaha U1 has an excellent reputation and the ones I've played sounded nice. I haven't seen any posts from Pianobroker here lately... guess he's busy selling pianos!! Rick

Yamaha U1...my first baby. Bought sight unseen right from the factory when I was still living in Norway. Later, I brought it to California, and it handled the change of climate perfectly. 15 years later, I sold it for more than I paid for it. You cannot go wrong! Congratulations.

Congratulations! It's a great little piano with a great touch. The tone is wonderful at first. As the hammers work-harden, you may want to put a carpet under it to absorb some of the higher frequency sounds. Be sure to have it voiced when you find the treble too bright.
Good choice.
