I've been reading this forum for a couple of months now and researching used uprights for my daughters. I just wanted to thank all of you for your valuable recommendations and knowledge. In the end, I chose a Yamaha U1 from Tony Hahm aka pianobroker over at Past Perfect Piano. I'd like to give a special thanks to Tony for taking the time to talk at length with me to answer my questions.

I looked at various pianos before I went to see Tony and I was just amazed at the quality of his U1 over others that I saw. It was immaculate and sounded great! At that point, my search was over.

Now it's sitting in my living room and my girls are thrilled to have a piano in the house!

Congratulations on your piano!! The Yamaha U1 has an excellent reputation and the ones I've played sounded nice.

Yamaha U1...my first baby. Bought sight unseen right from the factory when I was still living in Norway. Later, I brought it to California, and it handled the change of climate perfectly. 15 years later, I sold it for more than I paid for it. You cannot go wrong! Congratulations.

Congratulations! It's a great little piano with a great touch. The tone is wonderful at first. As the hammers work-harden, you may want to put a carpet under it to absorb some of the higher frequency sounds. Be sure to have it voiced when you find the treble too bright.
