Hello. I hope this question is appropriate for this forum. If it is not please feel free to direct me to where you feel it would be better suited.

I am trying to help my Father-In-law sell a 1989/90 Baldwin Continental E100 piano. This particular piano is an Ivory/White color. The piano has been maintained regularly and plays very nicely. Honestly, it plays as well as the day they purchased it. They originally paid $4000 for the piano. It has been treated with kid gloves and probably has only 100-200 hours on it.

The used piano market doesn't seem to be what it was back in the good old 1990's so I'm wondering about the devaluation of such an instrument at this time. I was thinking of recommending they put it on Craigslist. I have tried to find an exact "sold" piano of this make/model but have not been able to.

With the research I have done, it seems if they can be patient they should be able to get $1500-$2500 for this piano at this time. They live in Northern Colorado and there are a number of good sized towns/college towns around here so I believe there should be a decent relative market. Does this seem like a reasonable $$ amount for this piano or am I way off one way or another.

Also, last question, Is the fact that the piano is White typically make it an easier sell (less supply)? or a more difficult sell (less demand)?

Any feedback is much appreciated. Best to you all.

Eric

It depends on the area, but used white pianos tend to sell for less money than other colors and they take longer to sell. If memory serves, the E100 is about 44 inches high? Probably the lower end of your price range is more realistic. You could try listing at 2K and see what happens, but at that price, you will be competing with the used 243 models.

Around 2k wouldn't be far off. Seems about right, more or less. White/ivory coloured pianos generally take longer to sell, because there is less demand for them when compared to other colours/finishes.

Thank you Bob and Rotom. Your thoughts are appreciated. I'll probably suggest they start in the $2000+ area and work their way down from there. I'll post final selling price just to give a gauge for others who may be wondering. Cheers.
