Knabe and Kohler & Campbell pianos are both shown on the Samick web site (http://www.smcmusic.com/). Knabe has three series of grand pianos listed: Baltimore, Academy, and Concert. Kohler & Campbell has two series listed: New Yorker and Millennium. The description of the Knabe Baltimore models seems to be the same as the K&C New Yorker series. The style, finish, and even the model numbers (WG or KIG prefix) appear to be identical. The description of models in the Knabe Academy series or in some cases the Concert series seems to be the same as the K&C Millennium series. However, the prices of the Knabes, either MSRP or SMP, are at least 50% more and sometimes almost twice as much. Does anyone know if the Knabe and Kohler & Campbells are really the same pianos? If they are the same why such a price difference? If they are different are the Knabe pianos really that much better or is this just some kind of marketing gimmick?

Regardless, how do the Knabe and K&C grands stack up against similarly priced pianos?
