C Major Prelude and Fugue from WTC (Book I): Although I love the fugue, the prelude is played so often that I felt like it was necessary to do something different. So, it's a bit livelier and more marked than usual. Apologies for the recording quality - my tuning equipment arrives soon! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSz6oqITffESonata No. 2, I. Allegro This is an original piano sonata written and recorded in 2010. It draws heavily on Mozart with some touches of Beethoven and Scarlatti. It was fun to write, and it's fun to play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD6kL_d3jRYMore information about the piece available here: http://www.simonbielman.com/2010/06/sonata-2-op-7/

I liked 'em all! How were these recorded? What are you playing on? Are you looking for critiques of the performances? Critiques of the composition? Acknowledgements from like-minded people? Just curious about it all... The sonata is very upbeat and bubbly. I appreciated your take on the Bach, too. It is not the first time I've heard the Prelude played in such a manner, though. As has been noted in this forum on many occasions, Bach wears many styles well. As a proponent of "indie classical," I say, "Nice job." --Andy

Thanks, Andy I'm mostly interested in finding like-minded people to share new music, but I'm always open to criticism and suggestions. Even though I don't have the best equipment right now (and no video camera), I'm going to try and nurture this channel into something where I can actually reach an audience, and have a creative outlet. There's some other music already there, and I plan to upload more music and things like silent movie interpretations as well The Sonata was recorded with a sound engineer on a Schimmel concert grand back in 2010. The Bach, however, was recorded about one week ago at my current home. The piano is an old, beaten-up Blüthner grand that really needs some servicing and tuning. I can't yet afford professional equipment to record the piano, so I'm using a modestly-priced USB Vocal mic. The mic is extremely close to the middle range of the piano to reduce noise, but it doesn't sound very live. There are some technical problems I wish I could fix in the sonata, but my finger technique has improved quite a bit since this was recorded. And although it's a new piece, I'd definitely be interested to hear any comments on interpretation for that one! I'm not sure what to say about the Bach, but I am working on a few others from WTC book I. Hopefully I'll be able to upload those soon!
