I tuned a Yamaha Spinet yesterday. Didn't know they existed. For a Spinet it was very nice. I did a pitch raise and it took it like a champ. The pins felt nice and smooth, just like a Yamaha. According to my Pierce Piano Atlas it was made in 1965. Does anyone know anything about the history of the Yamaha Spinet?

I think they were produced in the 1960's and early 1970's. In my opinion, the Yamaha spinet was the best spinet made. Even the actions are easier to remove than most other spinets.

They even made the CP60 electric spinet, equivalent to the CP70 and CP80.

My first job in America was for a Yamaha dealer. I take most things in my stride but your post just made me realise how lucky I was.

Yes. Those Yamaha spInets were a cut well above the rest. Consoles too.

Can't tell you much about their history though.
