New age Hanon composer: Behdad Bahrami 15 Hanon style etudes but with beautiful melodies and a catchy harmony gathered in one song.It is also more modern, and has a "new age" atmosphere. It is designed to sounds like a song and this causes the players and audiences don't suffer from it (I remember my suffers when I was playing Hanon!).You can play its melody with chords or play with the same melody in both hands (like Hanon). This is a computer demo version.I'm also working on some other etudes and I'm going to release them soon. Please tell me your comments. New age Hanon

I know that Hanon is perfect for piano technique! But as you told,it is a nightmare for piano students. Its soulless studies causes some students give it up and sometimes give up the piano at all ! You know We have two kinds of etudes. One of them like Hanon and Schmitt are just for technical issues and hasn't any beauty.Another one like etudes of Chopin and Rachmaninof are very beautiful but a simple piano student can't play them. They are often very fast and you can't change their tempo.I tried to compose an etude(study) that has a beautiful melody and harmony in a more modern atmosphere but also can be played like Hanon;Changing the tempo hasn't any effect on its nature and can be played with the same melody in both hands.I used triplet notes on it as well. This piece is also very short and can be played like a true song.Every study is repeated just 4 times. I finally can say this is a song for technical issues and can be played beside Hanon or instead of it!

Are you suggesting that Chopin Etudes can only be practiced (let alone performed) at the final tempo? :-)

No,I'm not! It is even better to practice them in lower speed. But I told these etudes are composed to be played very fast. Those are concert pieces rather than a simple etude for a simple piano student.Playing Chopin's etude no 1 even at 60 tempo is difficult for a beginner. The advantage of Hanon (and etudes like this) is everybody can play it.(But they must be a piano player at first:) )

I could only listen for a minute. There's something about a constant I vi IV V progression that grates after a while.

If you listen more than one minute (just 11 seconds!)you will find that I did a modulation to its relative minor scale. The reason for using this progression is this appears in many contemporary pop and new age songs. Also I'm not agree with you about this progression. It is very cool but abused very much! You can also play the etudes in different chord progressions you want.
