Once again, parallel universes collide. When I read this in the newspaper today, I couldn't help posting it.

Forgive me! blush

BTW, you and Andromaque need to clear your schedules towards the end of March. I'm coming to NYC and expect to meet flesh and blood versions of the two of you. (And others who may be around...)

BTW, Kreisler.....if you like this idea, I could try to reserve some 'rehearsal' time at Merkin Concert Hall or someplace (my treat), and we could all try out some stuff for one another....

P.S. Kreisler: Will you be doing any public (or semi-public) performing?

I'd love to hear you perform Mark! I'd be scared to death of performing in front of a PW audience (even a very small one). That means I should definitely do it.

I always thought small audiences were the scariest, they are paying attention. If you have a large audience, they usually are predisposed to liking you.

Yeah...I'm in town for the MTNA Convention and will be accompanying one of the collegiate competitors. He's a saxophonist I regularly play with. It's a 35 minute program and I believe it's open to the public. (Not sure when we play yet, though.)

Everyone should come visit the conference, even though it's geared towards piano teachers, most of the major publishers and piano manufacturers have booths at the exhibit hall - including Henle, Vienna Urtext, Frederick Harris, Steinway, Yamaha, etc... You can usually get a huge discount on everything. (Henle editions and Celebration Series for 40-50% off and stuff like that.) Henle usually brings all their new facsimile editions, too, so you can see what's hot off the press.

I wish I could come. I would love to go to the conference as well, and Perahia is playing as well...can't afford the hotel though, why is NYC so expensive...I love the competitions and showcases, and such discounts on music. It is like Christmas in March.

There is a good possibility I'll be there. If so, I'll be coming with a few special guests. I really shouldn't say anything, because there IS a chance I won't be able to make it, but I'm counting on it at this point.

This thing is escalating in a hurry. ha

I could sort of invite "the press" grin -- a friend who writes for the NY Times might find this thing of a Piano World jamboree to be interesting, and might be persuaded to play something too.

Poor Andromaque...getting put on the spot like this.

You know, there are some of us, and Andromaque may be one, who aren't really looking for real life social contacts via PW. Crossing the online/meat-life divide isn't everyone's idea of a good time.

Very true -- and I can relate. For the most part that's how I feel too. For the extreme most part. smile

I understand, but PMs do have their place, and I have PM'd with Andromaque a number of times. She is an awesome individual. Also the 'other' Jason, most recently when I went to pieces after hearing some Chopin etudes -okay I did not listen long enough to figure it out- but sometimes one needs to just privately talk.

That seems fair enough.

At least three... but I'm the one argerichfan consistently calls "the 'other' Jason". A label I accept proudly.

Very true, and I have PM'd the 3rd Jason a few times.

And there are a number of other folk I have PM'd with. They know who they are. wink

This is getting confusing, methinks it time for bed. But a great topic on the Chopin Op 25/1. Cheers to all my friends here. thumb

Kreisler can send Mark PM's... He really does have the powers of a god. smile

Oops! No..I can't. But MC sent me an email. We'll start working on something and I'll put a sticky up here later for those interested. Y'all are also welcome to FB me.

Poor Andromaque...getting put on the spot like this.

You know, there are some of us, and Andromaque may be one, who aren't really looking for real life social contacts via PW. Crossing the online/meat-life divide isn't everyone's idea of a good time.

I’m with you! And FWIW it seems questionable for a moderator to single members out by name for a social invite. It has an *appearance* of cronyism and favoritism - *especially so* here given who one of those members is.

Which one, Mark or Andromaque? I imagine if there were another frequent poster that lists NY in their displayed info, Kreisler may have mentioned them too. However, I like to think of you guys as my "imaginary friends" (per Gooddog's husband) and not too sure I'd want to change that status. All my real friends think I'm a good pianist. laugh (I did consider that European trip, though) smile

Andromaque is welcome to totally ignore me and this thread. I totally understand not wanting to mix virtual and real life. My sister is an elementary principal, my mother was a social worker and juvenile officer, my wife is a physician, and my father was a police officer. As a musician, I like FB because so many of my friends and connections are geographically separated. But I totally understand that many people's lives are not enhanced and in many cases endangered by maintaining an known online presence.

Yes, but to those of us who are socially minded in real life, meeting and sharing music with our "imaginary friends" could be a wonderful, memorable time. I get the idea that national conferences, competitions and local piano parties are the vehicle for this. While I have no desire to take the competition stage, I'd love the opportunity to tickle the ivories with my imaginary friends! grin

Haha! Yes, I've been there and seen the arch, but not had any beer while there, but am quite familiar with your product.

Well no. Super Bore Bowl tomorrow, but will leave that to others.

I am going to an organ recital at St. Mark's (Episcopal) Cathedral tomorrow. The programme looks to be awesome. Can't wait!

Bach and Liszt... and a dollop of the crusty Frenchman Alexandre Guilmant, should be fun.
