All,

While this is my first post, I have spent many weeks using the search tool in my quest for a piano. After many false starts and disappointments, I finally found what I was looking for.

My son is 13 and is an advanced pianist for his age. We have lived in several different countries and always had to "get by" with a digtial piano due to our gypsy-like circumstances. Now that we finally have a permanent home, we felt it was time to put down roots in this regard.

I found a 1978 Yamaha G2 in pristine condition for $5500 delivered. My technician was quite surprised at the "newness" of the piano. It was well cared for and appears to have little use/abuse. The piano had been recently regulated and voiced and the tech said he saw nothing in its condition that would need replacement for at least ten years (or more)in his opinion. He is normally a glass-half-empty kind of guy, so it was surprising to hear him sound so upbeat.

Anyway, the piano arrives tomorrow and I am sure my son will find it much better then his Yamaha Arius DP. Again, thank you for this forum, it really helped me know what I wanted and be more confident in waiting for the right piano to come along.

It was actually purchased from Sonny's Piano in Long Island, and while their offereings can certainly be hit or miss, this one was definitely a hit. Here's a link. Thanks again.

Thanks all. We had looked a few black pianos and my wife ruled them out entirely. It made the search a little more challenging, but the end result was worth it.
