Don't know if this has already been posted but thought I'd share this find. Does someone know the difficulty of this piece? sure sounds next to impossible to play this with the required power and clarity. Would this rank as one of the harder/hardest Liszt pieces?

Brendan is playing the transcription of the 5th Symphony at the Noontime Concert at Old St. Mary's in San Francisco on Tuesday. I was planning on going, but a friend died and the services conflict.
To my knowledge it is one of Liszt's hardest pieces.
I wouldn't doubt this at all

Sorry to hear that. I think Brendan posted the first movement of the 5th some time ago in the recordings section and I really liked it.

Liszt included the vocal parts above the piano ones in the finale, probably thinking that no human can simulate the combination of SATB chorus and full orchestra with 10 fingers on one piano. He hadn't reckoned with Katsaris's ten fingers.....
