I am trying to find a player assembly for a 1909 Whitney Chicago player piano (SN: 59652)? Are there any places who sell the old player assemblies or are they impossible to get?

It would be very difficult to find an original replacement unless you find another copy of the same make/model piano with player system intact.

If you don't desire an all-original player, Howes Piano (www.howespiano.com) says on their site they can supply a complete replacement roll player system. I haven't called for a quote, but it likely isn't cheap. I would expect it to run for about $5,000.

Go to http://www.thepianoworld.com/Contact-us.html Im not sure if he will send one to you if he has one but I think he is your best bet to finding an original player action. I have been in his restoration shop and he has many stacks and spool boxes out of many different playerpianos. Call him or shoot him an email. Dont forget though that these actions are not restored you will have to do that your self.
