Despite the adverse conditions, my W.Hoffmann T186 managed to get delivered today. I've struggled a bit with the lighting in these photos, but they should give the general idea!

Been having an absolute ball playing it.

Congratulations on your new piano!

However, all I see is a little box with a small red X in it. I'm sure your new paino looks a lot better!! smile

Congratulations on your new piano! Seeing, this is W.Hoffmann T186, I'm wondering if you have checked for the difference between T186 and Bohemia's BT185. I've been always curious if they are the same just rebranded pianos or not. Thanks and enjoy your playing on this piano! Karel

I don't believe they are the same. The Hoffmann is designed by Bechstein, and though is constructed largely in the Bohemia factory a couple of bits (including the soundboard, according to my dealer) are made at the Bechstein factory. There might well be some overlap in terms of components for all I know, but they aren't the same piano.

I've just asked since in piano byuer guide is a note that T series is completely made in the Czech Rep, while V series some of its parts comes from China. Currently I'm observing the market to see what's really made in EU and what's not. I'm a little bit patriotic I guess. :-)

Beautiful; congratulations! And congrats on the daughter, too! So good that you're going to fill her life with music from an early age.

Thanks for the comments, all.

Going from my Yamaha S90 synth in my old flat to this is rather wonderful. I love the feel and sound of this piano and wish it weren't 2am at this precise moment so I could go and play now. Thankfully I have Emile Gilels's astounding Beethoven sonata recordings on my music player to keep me going.

And thanks Mike for the congrats on my daughter. She will indeed be hearing a lot of music. In fact if I recall correctly she heard the Eroica (the bits she was awake for anyway) within the first two days of her life.

Wow, Congratulations! Your piano is beautiful. Congratulations also on your very young new music lover. You'll have to include her in some of the pictures.

Hello,

I had a W. Hoffmann 114 upright in 1987 (in France) and remember that this brand gave a full, warm sound, nearly same sound signature as Feurich.

I haven't seen any W.Hoffmann in California. How is the sound today? Is it shifted toward other characteristics?

Congratulations & Thanks

Hi - I have no experience with Feurichs, but the description you give isn't terribly far off. I also played on a Steinway A and a Yamaha C3 in the showroom - the Hoffmann was appreciably warmer than the Yamaha, closer to the Steinway in fullness while also a little less powerful (but a tad sweeter to my ear).

nice, thanks for the pics!

Snow? Make sure that your airco is working such that the humidity keeps acceptable. I have mine running 24/7 now but it can't keep up with the super-dry weather...

Brings back memories of little me sitting under my mother's baby grand messing with the pedals while she tried to play. Nice piano...hope it fosters the lifelong love of music that my mother's Bradbury did for me.

I wish I had bookshelves right behind my piano bench like that. I never seem to have the book with the song I want to play next there on my music desk.

Mighty fine piano you've got there (and the bookshelves!).

Thanks Rotom, and thanks also for your comments in my other thread - they were certainly a help.

We don't tend to have air con in English homes (it's not generally necessary), but I do plan to install a hygrometer at some point and talk to my dealer about solutions for keeping the humidity reasonably constant.

Cute memory! I can see underneath it being quite an attractive place for a child to play, so I made sure the movers bolted up the legs very tightly.

Thanks. I had semi-planned to put my sheet music on the bookshelves but there simply isn't room, so I'm going to get some magazine racks to put in the corner space created by the piano's angle.

I'm pleased with the way it looks next to the shelves.
