I've been shopping for a P-155 for a few weeks now. I finally got a wonderful price. I am waiting for the retailer to contact me back to place my order.

I went to the nearest music store and tried to see if they would price match the quote I got from the other retail. Since they were busy, I left my name a number and asked them to call me back when they have the time. I just got a call back and they told me that Yamaha is out of P-155s and wont be getting anymore until mid march. He then tried to sell me a used P140 for $900 and kept throwing in extras until I finally told him I was set on the P-155.

Do you think he was just being sneaky and wanted to get rid of their older model? Or can someone confirm that Yamaha is actually out of the P-155s?

That's standard sales BS. A salesman wants to sell whatever he has on hand, and he wants to sell right now. If he doesn't have what you want, just move on.

Thats what I was thinking. But I just want to make sure. I made it very clear to the salesman that if they couldn't offer me a more impressive deal than my last quote, then I wont be interested.

The problem though, if it is true, the other retailer wont be able to order it either. Which is why I need confirmation before I place the order.

I believe Northern Japan's chip production in that region was slowed down by the tsunami. Wether there are backorders at Yamaha or your salesman was just blowing smoke at you I can't say but I have heard some keyboard mfg in Japan has been a bit slow!

Thanks, hopefully that isn't the case. I wont be able to wait until mid march for them to get more in stock.

The store could be telling the truth.

I forget the specifics, but when I ordered my N3 I was initially told it could be within days or several months. There's a distribution center and if your model is not in stock it will be on the next boat .... which could be a few months away.

When I ordered my C5 I had to wait five or six weeks since the dealer didn't have one in stock, nor did the distributor.

That would make me sad. Is anyone able to call the distribution center in California and ask? I'd do it, but my touch screen on my phone is broken and I can't make outgoing calls until I get a replacement.

If you want a P155 a large dealer in say ....California could get one in within 24 hours. They are in stock.
