#1840272 - 02/07/12 03:51 PM Roland FP-7F - Strange sounding noise, is this normal?

I have noticed a strange sounding noise with a very high frequency on the Roland FP-7F, appearing shortly after pressing and holding down the G#2/Ab2 (24th key from the left side) respective the C#3/Db3 (29th key). If you play a Roland FP-7F could you please check if you have that sound, too?!

The increasing-decreasing high pitch tone, which is well above a frequency of 4000 Hz, is best heard when using the following setup:
• Headset
• Key Touch => FIXED
• Sound => Rock Piano or Supernatural Piano

The firmware has no effect, since I have tried 1.04 as well as 1.05.

I would like to know, if this is a single phenomenon of my piano or more or less normal.

Yep, I hear it too; almost a half a second after the key is struck on both of the notes you mentioned. I just bought my FP7F a few weeks ago, but have used Roland for many years. I happened to notice a long time ago that quite a few notes in the lower register have a similar high pitched ringing noise...it drives me crazy and I don't understand why it's so obvious. I don't hear these strange high pitches in Yamaha / Kawai digital pianos...whatever, I don't use onboard sounds anyway, they're all terrible, every single one of them in my opinion.

I've heard these ringing noises on every Roland I've played. I think it's safe to say it's "normal". I find it's a little less noticeable on the SuperNatural pianos then the old version (Non-SuperNatural?).

Thanks Keegan,

you nailed it. You described my observation perfectly.

Think I have to accept the noise as 'normal'.
