Salve ragazzi ! Hi!
Soon after registering, I would like to first thank you all for the precious help I received in the final decision about which DP to buy. Following this topic of the forum let me taking advantage of your understanding, generously offered to inexperienced people like me. The countless tips and hints that I soaked have been ‘ instrumental’ to my ‘instrument’ choice. Thank you guys. Now, let me tell you about my recent purchase, a Kawai CS9. Some of you may think (so did I at the beginning) that a high-end DP is a foolish and preposterous choice for a beginner, much more considering that the reasonable goals and the technical level achievable by a beginner of my age (I am 60 yrs old) don’t need such a high quality DP (I started learning piano 6 months ago). But a big enthusiasm and love for music and for the ‘white & black creature' dictated such an overbearing choice, which I accepted to undergo! How silly, probably, but that’s it! The bright marketing and advertising of Yamaha together with the high quality ot their DP’s made me first focus on CLP 480. I could try it at a local dealer shop near home and I was ready to buy it in a matter of days, once back home from my forthcoming trip to Rome visiting friends. I was ready to buy it, but not fully convinced, given the much more satisfying touch of the old acustic piano I was using for my daily practice, the vertical italian Steinbach piano of my mather in law. As for the Yamaha sound, I liked it, even though it didn’t made me go crazy. Nevertheless, I was thinking that my inexperience didn’t entitled me to be so choosey. I needed a piano very soon, to practice without having to move daily to my mather in law apartement, and it had to be a digital one, for my neighbours quiet. I also had a look at Roland HD 307, also a very good dp, but Yamaha attracted me more. I’ll buy it soon, I decided: CLP 480 is my choice, shure an excellent choice ! Yet, something happened. While in Rome, I visited a very big and renound Piano store, looking for a Kawai DP, since the local dealer at home had no one at that time to put hands on. I had learned from you in this forum that before you buy you absolutely have to try different options, so let’s try a Kawai: a CA 93 was there, and…….. immediate love at first sight, pardon me, at first try. Soon after I realized that the same mechanics and sound engine were inside the CS9, more appealing to me for its classic elegance. Once back home I learned that CS9 wouldn’t be available until April 2012, possibly even later. I was confused about what to do. Should I wait, or rather go for the immediately available Yamaha? I felt that I had to patiently wait, though patience is not in my nature. It took me two monts of suffering before deciding to buy a CS9 on line, the only way to get it sooner, and finally I ordered it at Thomann Cyberstore, although aware that a purchase in a local dealer makes it easier to get technical assistance to fix problems, compared to an on line purchase in Germany, 1185 miles away from my home. I simply couldn’t wait any longer. No way. Last week my CS9 finally arrived. Now I am enjoing this fantastic magic toy for hours every day and the little kid inside me is happy. Notes and melodies come out with a marvellous sound and It’s really fantastic. Thank you all guys ! (and please, forgive me for being so longwinded) Antonfranz P.S.: . I may post pictures of it but I don’t know how to do that (heavy jpeg downsizing, posting, …??, etc..). I have no personal web page. Help will be appreciated.

Thank you, spanishbuddha. Yes it really looks like the real thing, that's why I preferred it to CA93, which is too a very nice model. But I also like it's sound very much (the same as CA93, as you know). Grazie ancora, CIAO! Antonfranz

Grazie reflex65, very kind of you welcoming us, I mean me and my CS9. My passion for music and for the "black & white thing" is decades old actually, my determination and opportunity to put real effort and time into it are the latest news. Grazie, CIAO! Antonfranz

Antonfranz thanks for sharing your joy! Here in the US the CS9 is not available and I suspect there is even more "piano envy" than ever after seeing those pictures. Hard to believe Kawai can't ramp up to offer these to those of us who believe this to be the best digital piano design and value presently made. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have my CA93, mine is just not as glamerous to look at.

Grazie Rich W, I too cannot understand why brands often pursue marketing policies apparently discordant with their new prospects likings, as in CS9 case. However, I sincerely congratulate you on your CA93 which caused me to fall in love with its touch and sound quality. The CS9 gives only a supplement of eyes pleasure, which can be desirable, but not as substantial as touch and sound are. Thank you for your kind words, CIAO ! Antonfranz
