Hi, i just pay my deposit for a 12 months old K5. The k5 is 12 months old and it was used in UWA(University of Western Australia). Yeah right, i am from australia , Perth. I am going to pay this K5 for 10800$ , it comes with a 12 year warranty, free delivery service and with a bench(as well)=.= I just wanna confirm , is this price worthy for the K5? thank you.

That's pretty high even for Australia (i'm from melbourne). I would have thought the price would be closer to 9k. How was it? How did it sound? Was the action decent? Uni pianos get a good pounding, so use in there for even just one year can have a considerable degree of use. One year would seem okay though, i wouldn't see much of a problem , the piano being still very young.

University pianos are usually played at least nine hours per day, every day. You're not getting the deal you think you are getting.

For $10800, you could get a brand new K5, not a one year old one, with all the warranty, bench, inhome tunings, delivery, etc.

10800$ , i think is because of different states. And yes , the sound is comparable with a GM-10 babygrand. It has a decent bass sound, but for the treble sound is very hard to show off even when i'm controlling my bass very softly. I can get a GM-10 here for just 9000$ , 12months old as well which is not the millennium III action, Assembled in indonesia. GM-10 which has millennium III action and assembled in Japan will be 12800$

GM-10 which has millennium III action and assembled in Japan will be 12800$ Wouldn't that be the GM-12? I have a feeling it is a so-called "university sale" where the uni sells off a few of its pianos, but the dealer helps out, and also sells some of the dealer's inventory at lower prices than when you go and buy from the dealer instead, by saying that the pianos are lightly used. Otherwise you wouldn't get the full 12-year warranty (presumably from Kawai). Do you like the piano? Have you tried many others at the sale?
