I'm actually asking for someone else who is becoming interested in solo jazz recordings. He stumbled upon this and liked it a lot:



Can you suggest any artists, recordings, etc that are similar?

I think there might be some likelihood that an Oscar Peterson fan would also dig Phineas Newborn, Jr. I really like Phineas, myself.




For something a little flashier, reach all the way back to Art Tatum.



And a lot of hard-core jazz piano fans might choose Bud Powell over either of the above two.



For my part, if all I could listen to was Bill Evans I would not pine away for lack of music. But that Tatum, Powell, Peterson (and I'd throw Newborn in there) stuff is very mainstream, quality piano playing no doubt.
