I'm actually asking for someone else who is becoming interested in solo jazz recordings. He stumbled upon this and liked it a lot:
Can you suggest any artists, recordings, etc that are similar?
Thanks! Aimee

There,s only one oscar Peterson!!
Check out Monty Alexander, montreux 76 Gene Harris - black and blue Keith Jarrett, standards volume 1 Oscar Peterson, Nigerian marketplace and anything else he ever recorded Michel petruciani, solo au theatre des champs elysees Ahmad jamal, live at the pershing
I think there might be some likelihood that an Oscar Peterson fan would also dig Phineas Newborn, Jr. I really like Phineas, myself.
For something a little flashier, reach all the way back to Art Tatum.
And a lot of hard-core jazz piano fans might choose Bud Powell over either of the above two.
For my part, if all I could listen to was Bill Evans I would not pine away for lack of music. But that Tatum, Powell, Peterson (and I'd throw Newborn in there) stuff is very mainstream, quality piano playing no doubt.
