Greetings Well, something I thought about years ago that would be a great idea that is finally here. An inventor in Kansas, who is a mechanical engineer and classically trained pianist, has invented a system to keep a piano in tune with the press of a button. Check out the link below and while the explanation of how it all works is a little hard to follow at times, there is a short video at the end that demonstrates how it works. http://www.gizmag.com/gilmore-self-tunin...tm_medium=emailallthumbs

He posted to PianoWorld just a few weeks ago. He had some announcements, and a rather unconvincing video, in the Piano section.

When developing something new, there are usually hurdles along the way. If something takes years its usually a wall in the way (or red tape).

Greetings
Well, something I thought about years ago that would be a great idea that is finally here.
An inventor in Kansas, who is a mechanical engineer and classically trained pianist, has invented a system to keep a piano in tune with the press of a button.
Check out the link below and while the explanation of how it all works is a little hard to follow at times, there is a short video at the end that demonstrates how it works.allthumbs I don't know if my ears are just going bad, but . . . when the note was claimed to be perfectly in tune, it sure didn't seem that way to me. At least, I wouldn't want to leave a note miaowing like that. Maybe just the low fidelity on YouTube . . . Kinda cool idea, though

When I watched his video it looked like the resolution of his "in tune" notes was 1 cent. Professional tuners usually work within .5 cents. His system may make an out of tune piano sound OK, but it is not clear that it can replicate the results of a fine tuning. One thing is for certain: His video quality is seriously lacking if he is hoping to inspire a serious financial interest in his product.
