Hi, I have a Yamaha YDP-V240, it's only 5 months old. I found that the sound from the speaker is a little flat when I play it as a piano sound ( grand, live grand, natural grand, or live warm grand ). Only the key of A4 B4 C5 D5 E5 F5. When I plug in the headphone, the sound is perfect, and when it play the recorded songs, the sound is also perfect. Only when I play it, the sound from the speaker sound weird and flat. As I know, a digital piano do not need to be tuned, so, i wish someone can help me figure out what's the problem. thank you in advance

You're well within your warranty period. Start by contacting Yamaha directly.

OK, I bring the YDP-V240 to a Yamaha Service center. And a technician did some testing and told me that the unit is in perfect condition. It just sounds like that because of the sampling.
Anyway, thank you for all your responding.

Many samples are allowed to incorporate a few imperfections to make the sound more realistic. I don't know how close your notes are to pitch, but I've none many "nice" digital samples to need a little cleaning up of unisons or voicing. Lastly, I'd look for a reset to "factory settings" just in case. I had a DP where the pedals were not plugged in securely and experienced a whole variety of effects including notes off pitch.
Any further questions are best directed to the Digital Piano Forum next door. Good luck.

I know this isn't the right forum but, basically, the sound from the speakers and the sound from the headphones are exactly the same, apart from some analog amplification stages which have absolutely no influence on the tuning. Put simply, it's physically impossible for the sound from the speakers to have a different tuning from that going to the headphones.

Put simply, it's physically impossible for the sound from the speakers to have a different tuning from that going to the headphones. I really doubt this. Any transducer will distort the waveform of the signal somewhat, and this will change how notes interact with one another. That interaction is the basis of tuning. Aside from this, there are other problems that you run into. The last time I bought speakers, I noticed that most of them had trouble with crossover from one speaker to another, such as in the area where the midrange and bass speakers overlapped. There would be a bit of time lapse between one and the other. That would be a substantial difference between speakers and headphones, that could manifest itself as a tuning problem.

Woweu, are you ken (from san jose) on music player forum? If so, you got good advice there. If you're not him, he's got the same problem as you on the same keys.
In ken's case he's complaining more about a lack of brilliance more than the pitch being flat. Is this the case here? If the pitch is flat, has it been measured by a tuner? If so, try a re-set (power on while holding the highest C key) and if that doesn't work, don't pass go, skip the local service center and call Yamaha National directly. If nothing else, they'll refer you to their most trusted service center in your area.
If it's more about brilliance or just sounding odd, it's an issue with the cheap built in speakers and the fact that they're underneath the cabinet. Buy a set of decent active studio monitors or a better quality 2.1 (sub and satellites) and that should solve your problem. The fact that the problem disappears on headphones leads me to believe that this is the most probable cause and therefore best easy solution.
What is decent? I would start with at least an M-audio AV-30 at around $90 and let your wallet decide how much more quality you want. A little more woofer area would never be a bad thing. On the digital forum here at PW there are quite a few people who are happy with Logitech's better 2.1 gaming systems. On my digital, I use 6 inch active studio monitors and I get plenty of bass.
