Used Yamaha P2 for a beginner?

Hi, I'm a musician but not a pianist, and I'm shopping for a vertical piano for my intermediate-level children. I came across a used Yamaha P2 built in 1997 that is in like-new condition and sounds beautiful (to me). The other options I'm considering are some of the Asian/European hybrid pianos such as the Irmler P122e. Can anyone share with me thoughts about the Yamaha P2? I'm struggling about whether to go with a good, solid used piano (like the Yamaha)and know that someday we may need a different instrument if my kids become more expert ...or spend more on a new professional-level vertical that we'll have forever (and take the risk that my kids may never grow into that type of instrument).
What should be a really exciting time - buying a piano - has become hugely stressful given this isn't a decision that is easily undone, so I would very much appreciate any thoughts or advice! Thanks so much!

Hi Willel, and welcome to the Piano World forums!
It sounds to me like you have done your research and answered your own questions already.
Which piano do you and your family like best?
In terms of resale, if you ever decide to upgrade, the Yamaha name carries a lot of weight. I don't know much about the Irmler, but that doesn't mean it's not a good piano.
Good luck, and keep us informed of your decision!
Rick

You need to give the price and also verify the serial number for the age. The P22 was already out in 1986 which I thought replaced the P2.

You need to give the price and also verify the serial number for the age. The P22 was already out in 1986 which I thought replaced the P2. There is a such thing as a 'P2' from that era (1997). Basically it's a P22 in a continental cabinet like an M1. Usually there is a letter after the model number like 'P2F'. They're pretty nice pianos if you can find them. http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/uprightpianos/p_series/p2f/?mode=model
