Hi,

I've a Yamaha Digital Piano Clavinova with graded hammer action. I bought it in 2003 and the previous year the keys produce some weird sound when I played. Also, some keys do not bounce back.

Is it fixable? I can't remember if there is still warranty. Do you think there is? (10 years like piano?) Or should I just hire a technician to fix it? Do you have any recommendations on technicians as well? I don't know where to find one.

Starry, while I expect the warranty period for your instrument has expired, it may still be worthwhile contacting a local Yamaha dealer (or even Yamaha's Canadian office) to discuss what repair options my be available to you.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Yamaha had set up a special repair campaign for faulty GH keyboards, even beyond the warranty period, but I don't remember the details.

You might want to hear your local Yamaha dealer or try to surf the net a bit.

Yamaha will provide a new GH keyboard assembly for selected models (including yours, I think) at no charge. You will be responsible for the labor cost. Contact a Yamaha dealer or authorized servicer.
I don't know of any other company that has provided this level of support for this long after the original warranty period. Hats off to Yamaha !
