Inspired by this thread: http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1844208/1.htmlWhich method do you use and what is your reasoning behind it? For those that use movable DO, do you treat minor scales as LA-minor i.e. la ti do re mi fa so la or DO-minor i.e. do re may fa so lay tay d) where "ay" indicates a flattened note (natural minor in this case)?

I use moveable DO with LA minor.
I use it because most of my kids know moveable DO already (Kodaly in school) and I can tap into stuff they already know instead of trying to recreate the wheel. I like it because transposition is a breeze with moveable DO.

NMKeys, when singing in harmonic minor, do you use the chromatic syllable si for the sharped seventh?

I think it would be useful to add another question to the topic.
Why do you use solfege at all?
The purpose for using it might affect the choice of method.

I use fixed DO as it is my students' first musical language. Moveable DO would not be helpful to me since the notes change names with each key.

I use ABC as my students' first musical language. Later I use Moveable DO when I teach transposition and sight-singing. Some students would prefer to sing in "la la la" or "ta ta ta" instead of any syllabus such as ABC, Fixed DO, or Moveable DO. As long as they are in pitch, I do not care if they are singing "la la la". Fixed DO would be something that I will never teach. However, my student understand the concepts of Fixed DO because I tell them, it is just we never use them during lesson.
