Hello! I do not know English language, but I hope that you will understand me. I have casually heard one blues product for a piano, but unfortunately I do not know as it who is called also is the composer. You could not help me with it... If somebody from participants of a forum learns this music, let will write the name of product and a name of the composer. I will be very grateful to you. (I want to find notes and to study it).

Sorry, I did not give a correct link ... Now I'm fixed. It is possible to listen here:

Hi Alexmos, the product is Pianoteq (maybe version 3). It is a physical model of a piano, rather than a recorded sample of it. The merits of Pianoteq vs. samples have been discussed many times here on Pianoworld before, so I'll let you search for more threads in the Digital Piano/Synth forum, so you can make your mind up about what you prefer.

As far as the composer, I think the pianist is the composer in this case, just improvising (making up as they go along) what we Americans call "the Blues" or "12-bar Blues" (referring to the number of measures each pass through the piece).

I think this midi file was created/improvised by one of Pianoteq's customers to demonstrate Pianoteq's jazz sound. I will be interested to hear this midi file rendered with the new Pianoteq 4 engine, which will come out soon apparently. I think that the Modartt team will make the new version have a more life-like and believable piano sound.

Hope this helps,
-Erich

Hi, no problem. smile Actually, you may be able to download the midi file which you could learn the notes from in music software such as Finale, or a Digital Audio Workstation, such as Reaper. You could play back the midi file while watching the keys being pressed, or have your music notation software "transcribe" the midi file for you in piano staff form. If it is midi, there IS always a way of getting the information to you. wink

I'm pretty sure that this file was created by a jazz/blues pianist for purposes of demonstrating Pianoteq's ability to sound convincing on jazz and not just classical all the time.

Try going to www.pianoteq.com and checking out the user forum, or maybe the "files" page. Download the midi file and presto - you have every note and rhythm at your disposal. smile

If I find it, I will post a link to the file for you.
Welcome to PianoWorld!

Found it! I knew I heard this somewhere before. It is the demo song for Pianoteq PLAY called K1 Blues. Pianoteq comes in 3 versions; Pianoteq Pro, Pianoteq Standard, and Pianoteq PLAY. PLAY is the smallest and cheapest of the versions if you don't want to mess around with the sound of the pianos too much and just want to "play". Here's a link to download a free demo of PLAY for your operating system, either Mac or PC:
http://www.pianoteq.com/try?select=PTQ3PLAY-LIC

When you start the program, you will see "K1 Blues" already loaded into the midi playback window. Just press the play button on the midi player and it will start. You can also change the playback speed for learning purposes. Find the very tiny "x1" underneath the midi timecode (minutes, seconds). Click on this "x1" and you can slow down the playback speed and watch the piano keys carefully to learn the piece.

I'm not sure who played/improvised this midi file that is shipped with every version of Pianoteq PLAY, but if you write Modartt (the creators of this software), I'm sure they will give you the credits/copyright information.

Hope this all makes sense. Have fun with the blues piece! It is very well done - I can see why you like it. smile

Hi

Are you thinking of the 12 bar blues? This can be produced by playing a sequence of chords.

Try this: -

C MAJOR
F MAJOR
C MAJOR
G MAJOR
F MAJOR
C MAJOR

Play the rhythm as 1+2+3+4+, and do the main chords with your right hand and play them one octave above middle C.

For the Left hand do a Simple Bass note, so as you play your chords play the note down in the left hand and hold.. for example

RH - CMAJOR
LH - C

Thanks, Erich and Samasap for your work. I have downloaded demo pianoteq 3, have made the smallest rate and I study a blues. I have not got used so to study, it is bad that there are no notes. But so too it is possible to learn. I have some more products unfamiliar to me. I will give references to them I will be very grateful later if you help me I to you. Thanks you!!!!!

Hi Alexmos, that's a great way to learn - by watching the keys play on a slow version inside Pianoteq.
However, if you really want to see the notes on staff paper, try this free notation software called MuseScore:
http://musescore.org/

Inside Pianoteq, click 'export to MIDI' while the K1 Blues is loaded in the midi playback window. Then start the MuseScore program and 'Import' the midi file that you saved on your hard drive. It will then transcribe the notes and you can print out the sheet music. Be warned however that the midi transcribe tool in any software (even if you pay a lot of money for the software) is not 100% accurate in terms of rhythm and placement of beats inside the measure (like pickups, anticipations, and swing 8th notes). But you should see perfect accuracy in the pitches that are being played - so you at least will have that to start with.

You might have to edit the rhythms and measures yourself by listening to the midi file being played in Pianoteq and then move the notes around as best as you can inside MuseScore.

Good luck learning the K1 Blues and I hope this all helps!
-Erich
