If you have never heard the First Englishman to record the Rach3 do feel free to check RST out.

The recordings made on the 22/23 January 1946 at Dudley town Hall with the City of Birmingham orchestra, show the exceptional talent and knowledge of Cyril Smith.

A personal friend of Rachmaninov, Cyril became professer of Piano at the RCM specialising in Rachmaninov.

After one performance, whilst receiving the congratulations of Rachmaninov , Rachmaninov said it was the best rendition he had heard.
(source Phyllis Sellick, (mrs Cyril Smith) concert pianist in her own right.)

well worth a listen...
