Hello all,

I have been a self-taught pianist for about 6 years now, and I believe my skills are pretty well developed; I practice between 4-6 hours daily and often go up to 8 hours.

My style is very modern, but I am looking to build up my skillset in classical piano style and composition, as I am struggling to adapt classical themes in my piano compositions.

I cannot have a teacher at the moment because, although I have my digital piano in my room, I live in my university dorms and cannot have a stranger entering the building to teach me.

I would like to take online piano lessons (I am willing to pay of course) and was wondering if anyone had any specific recommendations at all for online piano lessons that are built for the classical style/methods.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! Why can't you take lessons from someone on the faculty? You go to their place. I don't see how on-line classical lessons work - but I'm an old codger who's used to the teacher correcting me on the spot. Look around your school and find a teacher. smile

Can you take piano as an elective at your university?

You are both correct!

I cannot believe I had not thought of this...especially since there are pianos all over campus that I play very often, and not to mention the music building that I pass nearly everyday!

I just hope that they teach of music from the common practice period/era, which I am sure they do.

Thanks again!
