There may be some who have not yet heard about the composer Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir Projects. Two have been released and a third one is in final production. In each case, Whitacre issues a call for people to send him videos of themselves singing one of his choral works along with a video of himself conducting the work so singers can follow along for their individual submissions. Then, he and a staff of folks take the uploaded files and design a new video with a composited audio track from all of the individual performances. The result is really quite stunning, especially if you like Whitacre's choral style.

Here's the youtube links to the first two releases:

VC1.0 - Lux Arumque (185 voices)

VC2.0 - Sleep (2052 voices and a snazzy new-age video design)

He's now finalizing VC3.0 with over 3,700 voices!! Check out his website for more info. It looks like a lot of musical fun (I'm not a singer, so I'm disqualified from participating).

Thanks for posting that, packa - it was really nice. Other folks here have posted virtual instumental groups, too, and I just think it's one of the coolest things. I liked the visuals, too - I love seeing all the different people.
