I recently came into possession of a Rud Ibach Sohn upright piano, just in time as my 10 year old son just started lessons. I'm trying to find the age and possibly some history of this beautiful instrument. It is 49 inches (125cm) tall X 57 (145cm) wide and 50 ivories has Rud Ibach Sohn embossed in gold just above the keys in the middle and raised engraving inside above the strings, Barnes Avis Ltd. just above keys on the left, Reading just above keys on the right, "RIS Shutz Marke" on a round amulet inset on the inside of the lid that closes over the keys, 43487 stamped on top of both ends, 11028 stamped on top one end and 1668 on top of the other. It seems pld but looks and sounds beautiful. Thank you from a novice.

Taking 43487 as the serial number, the piano is built between 1900 and 1905. For the history of the company, see here (in German): http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibach_(Unternehmen)

The homepage www.ibach.de (not seriously updated since production was suspended in 2007) has an English part.

Thank you Maurus, I wasn't sure which number was the serial number.
