I am making another attempt to "mix" my DP with my software pianos AND band-in-a-box background.

The reason for this renewed effort is that Guitar Center has a sale on this item ... Behringer Xenyx 502 Mixer ... in the low 40 dollar range.

First of all, should I be considering that item ... or is it of such poor quality that I should forget it ?

If it is worth getting ....

Getting the Mixer attached to my Yamaha Monitors will be simple.

My unknown is how I will be able to channel DP + Software Piano Sounds + Band-in-a-box into this box.

Attaching my DP to the box should be simple.

I am not clear on how I get both my piano software sound and my band-in-a-box to find this box.

Can someone shed a little light on this for me.

I have a couple of the Behringer Xenyx mixers. They actually sound surprisingly good. I generally only buy Behringer products for backup or non-critical duties, but have to say that their mixers seem to be as good as some other more expensive boards.

dmd, I recently used a behringer 1202 mixer. I ran everything through the mixer, including the computor. I'm now using a line mixer because I didn't need the mic inputs and did need more room for my modules. I don't know about the 502 but the 1202 was fine for my purposes.

For connecting the mixer, consider something like the Behringer UCA202.

There are Alesis (and other) mixers with direct USB or firewire outs so that you can interface direct with a computer. I have one of their 8-channel USB mixers. I haven't used it with the PC for a while, but remember it worked pretty well.

Well, that will work ... I already use that with my system.

I just ordered the mixer ... so, we will see how it goes.

Ok, I just received my Behringer Xenyx 502 Mixer and have hooked it up.

I have a problem getting Band-in-a-box to send the sound through my Behringer UCA202 device which in-turn is attached to my mixer.

The sound keeps coming through my computer speakers even though I have selected ASIO as the audio driver type and then the device as USB Behringer Audio. Not sure what else to do.


Any band-in-a-box users able to shed some light on this for me ?

Don, I have my computer, my keyboard and my monitors all into the mixer, so that my computer and keyboard sounds through the monitors.

Sorry, but this makes no sense to me. And even if it did, it doesn't help me with getting Band-in-a-box to deliver sound through my UCA202 device.

I would need a little more detail on how to do things.

OK, I'll give it a shot even though I don't have any personal experience with creating music. At worst I'll be wrong.

Seems like you should be able to play your keyboard using, let's say Pianoteq at the same time you're playing BIAB and hear them both simultaneously through your computer speakers (or monitors). Is this true? If so, I don't see a need for a mixer.

You'd:
1. hit the record button on your DP.
2. hit the play button on BIAB.
3. play along
4. when done, transfer your recorded DP playing (mp3 file) to the computer, via a usb stick (for example).
5. add this mp3 to the BIAB music on the computer, using the BIAB software package.
6. manually sync your mp3 to the BIAB music and adjust its volume via their software.

OK, after all this I see what I missed. My method records the DP sound instead of Pianoteq's sound. Can Pianoteq (or whatever) also record your playing? If so you'd use THAT mp3 file with BIAB.

I am simply trying to get BAND-IN-A-BOX to output sound through my Behringer UCA202 audio device which is connected to my computer via a USB port and utilizing an ASIO driver.

My software sounds do exactly that but BAND-IN-A-BOX insists on sending the sound to my computer speakers.

I thought I had assigned the output of BIAB to the ASIO driver but apparently not.
