Hi there, I am looking to get some advice on setting my CDP 100 linked to my computer through MIDI.

This is the first time I have used MIDI and am slightly confused by the setup.I installed the Pianoteq trial and am able to play my Piano through my computer using headphones.

Is it possible to hear the sounds produced through Pianoteq on my CDP 100's speakers as so far I have not been able to.Do I need to buy extra components to make this work?

Any help is much appreciated.

Hello Tim, welcome to the forum!

The Pianoteq sound is produced and output by your computer.
Unless your CDP-100 has line-in connectors, I don't believe it will be possible to hear the Pianoteq sound from the Casio.

MIDI is only capable of sending/receiving note on/off information (i.e. play a key on the Casio, trigger the note on Pianoteq) - not digital audio.

Kind regards,
James

James is correct. In order to hear the computer-generated audio out of your CDP-100 speakers, the CDP-100 would need to have audio line inputs, and it does not. Some Casio models do (PX-310, PX-330), but not that one.

Yes, you can use computer speakers - some people swear by certain of the larger Logitech 2.1 systems, or you can obtain some near-field monitors (usually more expensive). Don't forget to make sure you have ASIO drivers in your computer to minimize latency.

I bought a set of creative 2.1 speakers today and am currently setting them up.I am using the pianoteq trial.

~Edit~

i have managed to get them working with the ASIO driver but I am getting alot of vibration from the speakers. Are there any settings I can change to minimise this please?
