I am considering a console piano - the clavinova CLP. What colours look better and easier to match interior decor? Four colours: walnut black, dark rosewood, light cherry and mahagony.

Which would you choose?

I always choose black. I dont like the reddish color of the rosewood, cherry, or Mahagony. But it depends on what your surroundings are like. I know I can get black to match everything. Maybe even dark rosewood...but never cherry or mahogany.

I bought polished ebony ... which is not on your list.

If I had to choose from your list, I would pick the either the dark rosewood or the mahogany. I like darker woods.

I like the dark rosewood the best.

Yamaha's light cherry is vile in my opinion - in pictures it is anyway. Polished black would be my choice (although it's not on your list).

Black walnut & dark rosewood are most popular, the cherry has kind of an IKEA look to it, but the high polish black looks sharp. They just added a high polish ebony model to the Arius line, YDP-C71PE. Not everyone is going to pay the extra for finish, but it is very nice.

We made a demo for YouTube.

I am choosing between black walnut and dark rosewood. The polished ebony is good, but the increase in price to pay for this is simply too much.

Rosewood is a common DP colour. Black DPs seem to be newer. But then, rosewood looks classy.

I always have black pianos polished ebony ... but I have rosewood trim on the dashboard of my car and it's very nice indeed.

Dr, what sort of car have you got? Don't think I've ever seen Rosewood in a car.

My lady would love for me to find a dp in brown walnut. But she does want it to play well! The top three seem to offer basically the same finishes. So far only an Italian manufacturer, Galileo, produces dDPs with excellent wood finishes other than black ebony. They are hard to find in the UK, and I have strong doubts that they can match the CA63 or CA93 in action or sound quality. So we will probably get rosewood.

Virgo Cluster, there's also the option of the CS6/CS9 in ebony polish.

Well, I'm sure it's not a Rolls - Rosewood is too exotic for an English car. Probably a Statesman or Calais (Or Fairlane/LTD if your'e a Ford man) - but that would probably be fake Rosewood...

Am I getting close?

Back on Topic ... teehee

My favorite in Kawai is Rosewood. Nice and dark, yet not totally black. Followed by Polished Ebony (Black). If it has to be Black, it may as well be shiny.

After that, the rest fall away fast.
