Cirque des Voix, coming for the first time to Tampa Bay for two performances, Saturday, March 24, 8 p.m., and Sunday, March 25, 4 p.m., is a touring collaboration between Sarasota's, Key Chorale and Circus Sarasota. With the sublime beauty of the human voice with the graceful strength of the human body, Cirque des Voix takes audiences on a journey to a place where the world's greatest circus arts, circus performers and most illustrious music come together. Thr illing circus feats and delights are performed as stunning live choral music from classical & other notable composers including John Williams, Beethoven, Orff, Jenkins and Morricone play.
The thunderous ensemble of Carl Orff's monumental "Carmina Burana" will be performed by 150 singers & musicians, as will one of the most beloved movie themes of all time, Ennio Morricone's "Gabriel's Oboe" takes on new meaning as a projection of legendary aerialist Dolly Jacobs "Queen of the Air" flies overhead creating poetry in motion. Tino Wallenda and members of the celebrated "The Flying Wallendas" defy gravity and belief while the orchestra performs John Williams' 'The Lost World". Jugglers, comic artists and the debut of Sarasota's Sailor Circus students in a mystifying 'Hand Balance' act will all be part of the magical Cirque des Voix! Co-artistic directors Pedro Reis and Joseph Caulkins.
