At the Frankfurt Musikmesse, I found this really interesting piano. A kind of plexiglass lid, but with a more Art Deco style. And yes, those are loudspeakers on either side! You can have a whole band playing along with the piano, which also comes out of the speaker. Now, guess who makes it, and guess who the mystery pianist is in this pix.

Sure. It's made by a world class maker.

It looks a little like a jukebox from their 1950's heyday, doesn't it. Well, a bit more elegant.
I wonder if this is what the concert grand needs to turn its fortunes around. Ok, make that 'piano bar grand' instead.

curra: Yes it is me... I'm trying to leave a beard... (and gain some more weight as it appears)... We had a great time with John in the messe yesterday. Spend several hours together, talked pianos, teaching, economy, a little politics. Went to the sheet music level and had a talk with a few people there, gave away plenty of business cards and hopefully I've done some good business there... Sadly I didn't have my camera with me, so I'm not able to add anything to this thread other than this post.

I'll wait another 24 hrs before I spill the beans on the instrument. I'll give you a hint, however. It is a Danish design from 1931 which has now been executed by a top German piano maker. The initials of the designer are PH.

Scott correctly identified it. It's a Bluetner Piano.
