I am from South Africa, I inherit and "oldish" Gors and Kallman Upright piano,serial 35563, Name AD Lexow, Berlin and nr. 387702 also appears on the inner key mechanism, but it is in serious need of tender love and care. I have a question to ask. Is an old piano like this worth repairing and who is the most reliable source in getting info on this piano? My internet searched directed me to this forum and I saw on one search result that serial numbers can determine the age.

The book of serial numbers does not have complete information on this label, but it was probably made about 1900-1905. I could not say whether it is worth repairing or not. It would depend on its condition, the local cost of repairs, the cost of more or less comparable new pianos, how much you would like to have this particular piano working properly, and things like that. Your best bet would be to have someone who works on pianos look at it and advise you.
