Subtlety and beauty of Arvo Pärt , Estonian composer.
Inspiring depth of quietude and feeling
in this piano piece.

That was very nice, Dara. I listened to and watched all 10+ minutes of it and enjoyed every second.

There is a lot of value to quietude, though I don’t think I’ve heard that term before. It did cause me to slow down a bit and reflect and take it all in. It seems like I have two primary tempos in my music and my life… fast and faster! I need to slow down a bit… smile

Thanks for sharing this…

Rick

Dara,
For some unknown reason I cannot see the youtube video you posted.
Is it possible that you just attach a link to the video?
Can you provide the name of the piece?
Thanks

The track "Alina" is taken from Arvo Pärt's great album "Alina" (ECM Records, 1999).

BTW Thanks for the post!

This is my own favorite for Pärt. Stunning performance by Gidon Kremer and Keith Jarrett.

Absolutely Beautiful

Here is another performance making use of the 102-note Stewart and Sons piano.

Arvo Part talking about Alina....a need to concentrate on each sound, so that every blade of grass, would be as important as a flower

Nice piano. Would like to hear more.

Thanks for the links vegasE. Enjoyed listening to both of those.
And wouter79 , that's a wonderful version of 'Fratres' by Keith Jarrett and Gidon Kremer.

Here's an interesting short clip and interview from 15 years ago with Björk and Arvo Pärt.

Thanks Sam.
Lovely interpretation by Indrek, and very nice recording and piano.
And the composer, pianist and piano all from Estonia.
Surprised to see it only has 15 views on YouTube.

I really love this piece and Arvo Part.. I'm wondering if I was lucky enough to hear Indrek perform this in Chicago bout 6 or 7 years ago? I think so...

it's so wonderfully contemplative... and those bass notes.
