Skyrim (video game music) is placed 238...

Above:

Ravel Piano concerto
Debussy preludes book 1
Liszt hungarian rhapsodies
Bhrams piano concerto 1
Rachmaninov vespers
Verdi rigoleto
Strauss Die FLedermaus

Good one, classic fm

Harry potter, Star wars and pirates of the carribean have at least some class, not skyrim

I know that you may not like it, but as I happen to (also) work in the computer games industry, I find that A LOT of computer game music is simply BRILLIANT, as much as film music anyhow!

If you think that skyrim (Elder Scrolls series that is) have no class you probably have little clue about computer games! ¬_¬

(Composer is Jeremy Soule btw)

EDIT: Then again I don't like Classic FM, and Soule... :P

It is nothing that innovative, just sounds like epic plain music like a few films

Sounds like a cross between Neodammerung from the Matrix and Pirates of the Caribbean

Fair enough, and as I said I'm not too fond of Soule and certainly NOT of Classic FM. But you need to remember that this is a popularity contest, as I understand it and the members vote! So it doesn't really mean anything...

I, for one, am glad that a computer game soundtrack is in the list! It was about time!

Yes, but what you seem to be missing is that the members (listeners?!?!) voted, in which case it's your opinion against the opinions of the masses that listen to Classic FM (already bad enough for them! grin).

For the record, I think that the highlight of Soule's composing was 2 games back, when he scored Morrowind (again from the Elder Scrolls series) and it's REALLY great (epic and so on): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWuNf4gxwuM

The themes from Oblivion (Elder Scrolls IV) and now Skurim (Elder Scroll V) do come from this one! wink Soule was NOT onboard Elder Scrolls I and II, since it was in earlier time and the music was still midi I believe! (still the games are ALL just too brilliant to describe).

I'd just like to point out that the Hungarian Rhapsodies (Catalogued as S244) are number 244 in this thingy! laugh

Does "FM" mean "Film Music" (since that's a significant chunk of what they play) or something else?

"FM" means "frequency modulation", it describes the way in which the signal is broadcast. I have no idea whether this term is used in America.

Perhaps this is a language difference, but the phrase 'you gotta love' is rarely used literally.
