#17.Jazztpt... I would go to listen to you any day... I love your playing. I know I've said it before but there is something about your pieces and your playing that reminds me of Keith Jarret.

27. Marybee... I always have to prepare myself to listen to Satie. He was a composing mystic. There is no one like him. Mary, you played these SO WELL. Tell your husband, that that is not "depressing".... it is, as you say, mysterious! It is dark and searching.. You truly capture the essence of what I love about his works.
Your playing is inspiring !

As always, incredible performances from everyone. Here's my first batch of 10-a-day.
01. wouter79 - Fantasia (Op.58) No way I could play this. Way too technical for me but very enjoyable to listen to. I liked the dynamics you used throughout. Nicely done wouter.
02. Andy Platt - Fur Elise (Wow Andy you played this beautifully. Smooth flowing passages . Great control and dynamics. Well done.
03. Monica K. - Release I am familiar with this piece Monica and you did a great job with it. It is very challenging in certain sections and you handled it well. I love the moody/emotional feeling this piece evokes. Well done as always.
04. Ladypayne - Wild Song Wow, this was a very dramatic performance. Very nicely done. You are sounding very confident with this piece. One of my favorites.
05. Jazzwee - Sugar Your phunky-groovy jazz beats are always so great to listen too. Excellent fill ins, trills, improvisations, all of it.
06. Riddler (Ed) - Pannonica Dreamy! and such cool chord changes. I love music like this. Very relaxing. Well done.
07. Mr Super-Hunky - Early Morning Breakers Nicely done blowhard but remember, don't be so easily satisfied. You really DO get out of it what you put into it as is evident with this recording. You actually didn't clip the mic for the first time ever.
08. BenPiano - Gavotta in D Minor L58 K64 Those were some very clean trills early on Ben. This is a fun and enjoyable piece to listen to and you performed it nicely. I especially liked your attention to the clarity of your trills and how well they were performed. Well done.
09. Inlanding - Glen - Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise+1 You certainly set a soft-comfortable mood with this piece glen. I could listen to this all evening long. Nicely done.
10. SwissMS - Sonata in C (K545) Second Movement You performed this so delicately and with such a nice soft touch. Very enjoyable and relaxing to listen to.

08. BenPiano - Gavotta in D Minor L58 K64 Dude, get a teacher. Hey! That's my line! A real "lol" on this end on the whole comment - thanks for the nice words!

04. Ladypayne - Wild Song Wow, wow, wow! That is a fantastic composition - full of variety, played with such great feeling. The title doesn't do it justice. Very nice job. hmm I do need a new title for my song lol. I'm not good at coming up with titles =) Any suggestions are more than welcome!

01. wouter79 - Fantasia (Op.58) - Wow - a great start to this quarter's recital! There are a lot of notes here to memorize - I applaud your dedication to tackling this one! 02. Andy Platt - Fur Elise - Nice to hear what I'm up against! Like I mentioned in the other recital thread, I tackled this as well, but play it much slower and with many more errors than you do - . Despite all of my problems and lack of teaching, it's good to hear I'm at least on a reasonable path for this one - well done! (and thanks for the tangential lesson ) 03. Monica K. - Release - Nice find, Monica - and well played!

Thanks Peyton, SwissMS, Andy and Dennis for your kind words and comments.
I really liked this piece from the first time I heard it, and I wish it were longer too!

And a fine good morning to all. Now that final papers are graded I can settle in and listen to your music. I'm enjoying the program...
01. wouter79 - Fantasia (Op.58) Your Haydn flows with both appropriate lightness and builds to nice suspense and change. Loved the arpeggio section at 2min. and again with more intensity at about 6 min. Would have liked even more sound at the end...just feels like a need for powerful finish. I'm a fan of your Fantasia.
02. Andy Platt - Fur Elise It may be played often but it's still beautiful to hear. Yours has nice balance in the hands and moves smoothly at a nice tempo. The B section is a killer to get exactly right without getting tense. You may have inspired to play this one again and see if I could do it right. A pleasure to wake up to this morning.
03. Monica K. - Release Makes me feel the freedom of being up in the Rockies with the wind blowing gently through the pines. Very nice Monica.
04. Ladypayne - Wild Song Wow...love this piece and am very impressed that you composed it. It has mystery and evokes a feeling of firelight and dancing. A toast of wine to you.
05. Jazzwee - Sugar Easy on the ears. Made me just sit back and relax. Can't say that I understand jazz but enjoyed your piece. The background track gives a sense of depth to it. Nice one.
06. Riddler (Ed) - Pannonica After the last recital I looked up T. Monk so I'd know who we were talking about. Thank you jazz folks for expanding my musical ear. The lack of tension you create with this piece is better than yoga. The ending was great!
07. Mr Super-Hunky - Early Morning Breakers Ah yes...love the essence of the ocean (although I'm a landlubber). Can you tell me why they call some bodies of water a "sound". Like Long Island Sound or Puget Sound. I really like this composition...it does capture the rhythmic feel of the morning waves
08. BenPiano - Gavotta in D Minor L58 K64 Nice dance. Scarlotti IS difficult but you sound effortless on the ornaments and move this along at a good tempo that makes it a happy sound. Well done.
09. Inlanding - Glen - Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise+1 I'm listening to the audio as the sun makes her appearance over the horizon turning the grass in the hay field to lustrous shades of green...slowly awakening the activity of the day...birds singing, bees humming, flowers showing off. This piece speaks rural morning. The video version feels more "city" to me with human activity coming to life...whistling, walking, waking, working. Enjoyed both but they feel like two different places.

That's exactly what I thought - exactly the same visions!

Thank you Casinitaly...I'm SO very glad you liked it and that it really evokes Carnivale for you.
SwissMS-I appreciate comments on my performances and am happy that the story in this piece came through to your ears. Thank you.
Jotur-this simple sounding piece tripped me up for a bit and I worked hard to achieve the tempo of the gondola moving through Venice. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone! It's an honor to have you all listen and comment on my recording. Here's my first round of feedback: 01. wouter79 - Fantasia (Op.58)Very nice playing, also very consistent! I don't think I would approach such a long piece yet A great start to the recital, for sure! And please feel free to comment on mine as well 05. Jazzwee - SugarI am not really a Jazz person but that was just ... cool. No other word comes close! 12. Recaredo (Ricardo) - Little Prelude in C Minor BWV 934Hey, very nice playing! I am learning this one as well - Looks deceptively simple but definitely isn't. If I could offer any advise at all, it would be to not interrupt the flow of the music for the ornaments in the main theme (such as in measure 1). My teacher advised me to play it without the ornament until it's perfectly even, then adding the ornament without changing the feel and timing of the principal notes. Just an idea! 13. Peyton - Comptine D'un Autre Ete L'Apres MidiI loved this piece ever since I heard Apple's recording on her Estonia. You definitely do it justice, it's amazing to be able to just whip this out when you have nothing else to show! It's also stuck in my head since the first listen and won't leave! 14. joangolfing - Reverie (Traumerei)Very nice rendition, loved the mood you manage to create! I've tried some Schumann and wouldn't go near this as a result - his music is always way, way harder than it looks. 25. Grouchomarx - Nocturne Op. 9 no. 2That was a fantastic performance. I envy the speed and evenness of your ornaments! The only advise I have: You missed half of the 2nd-last measure, maybe take a look at the score again 27. MaryBee - Gnossienne 3,4,5Ah, Satie! I always wanted to learn these after playing the 1st Gymnopedie for the AB recital a few years ago. Lovely playing! Makes you want to learn french to understand his silly interpretation instructions 31. Teodor - Invention #13Errors or not, playing this anything close to speed and with expressiveness would be an accomplishment with twice your experience. Very nice, you should be proud! 33. Little_Blue_Engine - Gymnopedie no.1One of the first "real" pieces I learned. And that I used to impress my girlfriend, too! :P I really like how you played this! 37. Sam S - Song Without Words opus 53 #5Sam, great work as usual! I'd love to hear a small concert by you playing all the Mendelssohn on a fantastic grand! I'd even pay the entrance fee 42. lyricmudra - On Wings of Song (Auf Flugeln des Gesanges)Great playing, made me check out the score. You make it sound way easier than it looks on paper Also, that RX-2 sound absolutely gorgeous. 26. CASINITALY (Cheryl) - Waltz OP 39 N. 13That was a lovely rendition. Kabalevsky keeps popping up as a name but I know next to nothing about him. That's great about the recital, bringing some lesser known composers to the front! Thank you for that.

A few more comments:
12. Recaredo (Ricardo) - Little Prelude in C Minor BWV 934 This was great - I think you captured the feel of it. Isn't it fun to play?
13. Peyton - Comptine D'un Autre Ete L'Apres Midi Love your dynamics Peyton, the way you can swell and diminish at will. And the little tempo changes are all just right. The video was great too.
14. joangolfing - Reverie (Traumerei) I tried to play this a couple of years ago - seems like ages ago now. It's much more difficult than it looks, but you make it sound easy. What always tripped me up were the little changes each time the theme is repeated, but you handled it all easily. Very dreamy!
15. Yamaha G-3 & P-80, Mike White - Coracao que sente Where do you find these interesting pieces? Sort of a waltz with a Spanish feel. Loved the trills building up to the big climax. And then the big change about 2/3rds of the way through. Well done.
18. RedKat - Prelude Op.28 N.6 Excellent dynamics. I loved your interpretation. This fall I plan to start on Chopin - wish me luck!
21. timmyab - Sonata in Eb major K282 You make this sound so effortless. All the little notes are so even - I cannot do that with music from this period. And you played all three movements. Wow. I'm impressed.
22. PianoStudent88 - Sonatina in F I don't think you'll have any worries about the piano exam - this was excellent. Just some rushing in the second movement on the little figures in the right hand. Well done.
25. Grouchomarx - Nocturne Op. 9 no. 2 Cool, two nocturnes to compare - no competition! Nice dynamics - you really build it up and then release it. And the trills sounded great. Thanks for all the silence at the end so I could ponder the meaning of the universe and life...
26. CASINITALY (Cheryl) - Waltz OP 39 N. 13 Loved the video - and your playing. So nice and clear. Well done!
27. MaryBee - Gnossienne 3,4,5 I think Satie was the first New Age composer, except his music is more interesting! But it has that circular, not going anywhere, anxious, mysterious quality to it that the New Age music has. Excellent job. Loved your dynamics, the way that you swelled and backed off the volume. The last one was the most interesting. Excellent shaping of the melody line!

Well I've listened to the first half, and wow! Thanks to all who shared and all who makes this possible.
5: jazzed: awesome. I love the whole sound and I especially love the acoustic and very jazzy piano and I love how you included not only bass and drums but acoustic real bass and drums. And the vibes topped it all off. I'll probably put this on my android device to listen to in the future because I want to learn jazz piano.
6: I liked how it was solo piano and the jazzy feel to it. I am also a sucker for dramatic endings but trying to temper it, realizing that *sometimes* a simple ending can be nice and even artistic.
9: I like the jazzy tone, I would certainly enjoy listening to that at a cocktail lounge. And I love the acoustic piano and room reverberations.
14: Love it, sounds very relaxed and natural, except for the abrupt cut to another track in the middle.
23: Ahh Love Story, love it. Very nice. So by ur comments, does that mean the left hand was assisted by software or the keyboard? I used to have an FP7, but had to sell it unfort.
25: This sounds like a great authentic rendition of this piece, now I just wish it were high quality stereo.
27: Wow, I love this, especially the "4th" part. Love it!

My first set of comments... working from the back this time, since I discovered how to make itunes reverse directions. So far a great recital! And thank you jotur, casinitaly, SwissMS, for your kind comments... much appreciated. --------- 40. DadAgain - Preludes 2&3I don't know much Gershwin (shame on me), so thanks for this! You play it so easily, it seems. It seems like a nice slow river, carrying you along... well done. 41. Bessel - Minuet This will get better - find another Purcell piece to follow it! "Air"? 42. lyricmudra - On Wings of Song (Auf Flugeln des Gesanges) That's a very pretty piece, and your personal history with it is very neat. Wonderful story, I hope it brings you good memories. You play it very well, thanks for sharing it. 43. dannylux / Mel - Reverie d'Amour Wow, that is lush. You play so well... thanks for the intro to Bowen. 44. Bunneh - Nocturne In Eb, op.9 No. 2 I've got to make a list of the Chopin pieces I like - this is going on there. You played it beautifully, and I love the sound of your piano. Gorgeous. 45. Copper - Humming Song I love hearing things from well-known composers that I really don't know much about. Schumann is one of those, though I've heard a few beautiful pieces by him. Nicely played, thanks! 46. Augustina - Arriety's SongI don't know the movie, or this song, but like your rendition. I thought you did well with the tempo, you really have this in your fingers. Good job! 47. raptor - Chopin Waltz in A Minor posthumousThis is really nice. I'm learning more about Chopin as time goes on... recognized this but don't know it well enough - like it a lot. You played it very well... inspiring given how recently you started. 48. Mar_red - My Way Very nice - the fretless bass is an interesting twist. I think it worked well, gave it more texture than if with a single "voice"... though of course since we're all partial to piano wouldn't have been so bad either. I'm impressed with all of you who improvise like this... 49. Starr Keys - Get Here Singing and playing together! Well done - that's a long-term goal of mine... but first I have to learn to play, and then I'll have to deal with listening to myself sing, which will be a very scary thing to record. I'm sure your mother loved it... kudos for getting it done despite your health this week. 50. Sam Rose (Shmuel R) - American Beauty Theme (Any Other Name) Your tinny, needing-tune piano lent a bit of otherwordliness to this... not saying I would have liked it less on your own piano, but it certainly added something to it! Thanks for making it in.

#17.Jazztpt... I would go to listen to you any day... I love your playing. I know I've said it before but there is something about your pieces and your playing that reminds me of Keith Jarret. Peyton, many thanks for the great compliment, you just gave my confidence a huge boost ( I listen to Keith Jarrett all the time so he must be rubbing off on me). Only a quarter way through listening so far and I won't get a chance to put any comments together before the weekend but some wonderful playing so far and some wonderful music , lots of hard work and dedicated practice went into these performances for sure. Thanks for all the comments so far, they are much appreciated. Unfortunately, now I have some work to do.

More of the classical pieces:
28. ClavBoy - Sarabande in D minor Nice change of dynamics on the repeat. And great touch too, with the contrast between legato and detached - that adds so much interest. Well done.
31. Teodor - Invention #13 Very smooth (except for that little glitch). I liked the majestic feeling that you gave it.
33. Little_Blue_Engine - Gymnopedie no.1 I love this piece - another of those pieces that doesn't really go anywhere but has a mood about it. I think you got the mood across very well!
35. notbach - WTC Book 1 - Prelude No. 1 in C major (BWV 846) Nice and smooth. So relaxing and contemplative. The only thing I do differently is to roll the last chord so it matches the rest of the piece (but that is not what's written).
36. DadAgain's Daughter - Woodland Sketch 01. wouter79 - Fantasia (Op.58) So cute! Wonderful playing! I loved the change in the middle section and the crossing of the hands. Excellent job.
39. WiseBuff - Il Carnevale de Venezia This brings back memories. I had to play this on clarinet a lifetime ago, and it was also popular on trumpet and I had to sit through many student renditions of it once. I think you played it better than any of those old performances. Love the ending...
40. DadAgain - Preludes 2&3 I want to learn these someday. I started #1 at one time but lost interest because it was too hard for me at the time. Nice fingerwork on #3. Great finish!
41. Bessel - Minuet It does have a haunting feel to it - you brought that out very well. Good job!
I'll go back and comment on as many of the non-classical pieces as I can...

Thank you Sam S for your kind words (and possibly failing memory). I wasn't familiar with the Carnivale and when I was in Italy did not get to Venice. I could almost feel a bit sea sick from the rocking of the gondola after playing it so much. LOL.

Thanks and Responses:
CasinItaly, SwissMs, Recaredo, and Bessel -- thank you all for your very kind remarks on my piece and my singing. I would have been happy just to know you found the latter tolerable at this stage, as I am very rusty. I’m so glad you do, because I find it makes a big difference in my playing as it helps me to be more on point with my rhythm and to hear lines and harmonies that punctuate and stress the melodic phrases with more facility. So, I’ll keep doing it with gracious support and work to improve as quickly as I can.
Here is my first batch of responses (going backwards in order):
#50 Sam Rose – Very cool choice! A perfect showcase for your skill level. Keep this up and you’ll become the urban legend the music reflects – not for being dead, though, for bringing music to life!
#48 – Mar_red – I’d know your lush style anywhere even if I didn’t remember your name, and I’ve never heard this song as well dressed. I like the French horn effect in the background too.
#47 – Raptor – Didn’t mind the mistakes at all and you make even some of the hesitations seem musical. You certainly are talented!
#46 – Augustina – I can really see the difference memorization makes in your playing. You are so musical and play the main theme exquisitely. This is a difficult piece with so many rhythmic changes and transitions. Slowly but surely I see you learning to navigate them and memorization should help a lot.
#45 – Copper – Charming! You definitely succeeded in expressing the theme. It hummed and so did I listening to it. #44 – Bunneh – Well your year between recitals was obviously well spent (and worth waiting for your return)! Parts of this gave me a glimpse into another dimension. I suppose that’s what’s meant by music being able to transport you. Great playing!
#43 – dannylux/Mel – How romantic, indeed! You sum up the best of the whole tradition in your playing of this piece. It reminded me of all those biopics from the 1930s and 40’s about European and American musicians starving in their garrets while playing on a grand piano the cost of which would have surely fed them for years. Equisite!
#42 lyricmudra – I am not qualified to judge this level of playing. I can only reiterate what I told Bunneh, it sends me, I know not where. Just terrific!
#41 Bessel – You succeed with this piece. It brought the image of ladies and gentlemen in powdered wigs bowing to each other and then raising arms to clasp hands and doing graceful pirouettes. Good job!
#40 DadAgain -- I gave a little gasp of pleasure when I heard you start to play this, not having looked at the title first. My own DadAgain had records of Gershwin’s original recordings and on first introducing them to me as a child, I went into fits of ecstasy which my body obviously remembered. But this wouldn’t have had happened if you didn’t do the music so much justice with your sensitive playing, carefully balanced dynamics and transitions and technical agility. I loved it--again!

Thanks Jazzwee, Dennis, Andy, Bunneh and Sam, for your nice words on my performance. They are so much appreciated.
That was a very helpful advice, Bunneh, I’ll try to follow it next time, thanks!
40. DadAgain - Preludes 2&3 I discovered these preludes little time ago, and I loved them. It has been a pleasure to listen to your performances, DadAgain. Both preludes are quite different between them, but you capture perfectly the soul of each one. Good selection and fantastic playing.
39. WiseBuff - Il Carnevale de Venezia This is the first time I listen to a piano transcription from a work by Paganini. I have been lucky, since I’ve listen to it trough a fantastic performance. Your playing offers the evocative character of this music with deep emotion. Very good rendition, WiseBuff.
38. LizAnne - Boat on Tai Lake LizAnne, you can be sure this has been a successful return to the piano. I’m glad you got your Roland. I hope to listen to your performances in the next recital. Very well done!
37. Sam S - Song Without Words opus 53 #5 There are a lot of big chords in this piece, and they are excellently played in this version; I’ve found them very expressive. I’ve also loved the contrasts between theses chords and the melodic passages. Indeed Sam, your rendition has reminded me the great oratorios of Mendelssohn. Fantastic!
36. DadAgain's Daughter - Woodland Sketch Hi Nicola! First let me transcribe the feedback from my youngest son, he is the same age as you are:
You play very well. I’d like to play like you do. I liked this music too. Congratulations.
Well, Nicola, I’ve also enjoyed your performance very much, you are very talented. Go on working on the piano, and you will be an amazing pianist.
35. notbach - WTC Book 1 - Prelude No. 1 in C major (BWV 846) Your playing on this prelude is fantastic, Notbach! Both hands are finely balanced and the melody is nicely exhibited along the whole piece. I hope to listen to your rendition on the fugue soon.
34. CMohr - God Bless The Child I understand you was excited when you got the lead sheet of this song, it’s indeed a lovely tune. Your transportation sounds natural and is played brilliantly. It has been a very evocative rendition, CMohr, I’ve really enjoyed it.
33. Little_Blue_Engine - Gymnopedie no.1 This performance is calm and relaxed, just what this music needs. You did a great job, Little_Blue_Engine. BTW, I always love to see and hear your piano.
32. TX-Dennis / Dennis Turner - Over the Rainbow How good you chose this tune, Dennis. I saw the film long time ago and I loved the song. I hadn’t listened to it for ages! I’ve enjoyed your rendition very much, it’s so lovely played, and even my wife came to my room to listen your playing when she heard the music. Great!
31. Teodor - Invention #13 This is really a powerful performance on Bach, plenty of energy. I like this kind of rendition on Bach’s music, I think it works fine. Good technique Teodor.
