I would like to buy a digital stage piano with built-in speakers. The Yamaha CP300 looks great, but it was released in 2006. I am afraid a new model is on the way with newer technology.

Have you heard any news or rumors about the successor of Yamaha CP300? Thanks!

Yamaha are generally pretty tight-lipped so don't expect too many plausible rumors.

The CP300 may well be the last of its type. There are practically no other dedicated stage pianos with speakers any more. The trend seems to be toward lighter weight (thank goodness). Also, speaker/amp design is improving and you can now buy decent powered monitors that won't break your back.

It's likely that Yamaha will refresh its stage DP design within the next year or so, but don't hold your breath for a direct CP300 replacement.

Of course, there are a number of slabs available with built-ins. Would one of those suffice?

The FP-7F is about as good of a replacement with both better action and far better AP sounds than the CP300. I owned a CP300 for about 3 years, and the 70lbs of weight got real old real quick. Vox is right, lighter is the new trend in Stage DPs.

Yamaha released a CP400 guitar in 1976. Why they use the same model no. again? By the way, would you mind to provide more information about the new model? Thanks!

Fox News - it was a joke, sorry laugh BTW yamaha naming sucks, there is indeed a guitar named that way CP400. While for a DP
it makes sense and could mean "classical piano" but for a guitar??? Seriously I don't think there will be a CP300 successor.
