hi all,

I recently sold my edirol r-09 to fund a new roland hp507, god knows why, as I appear to have noticed an issue with the internal WAVE recorders on these DP's, my last piano - clp470 also had same issue, its not a major issue, but still annoying to say the least.

Basically these internal wav. recorders record the overall music you play at a very low volume so as to avoid any clipping etc.. this means if you play a piece with significant differences in dynamics loud and soft you end up with a wav. audio file that you cant normalise because of the peaks, and the lows are too quiet, and overall the recording volume is too low, hope people get what I mean. Obviously with the edirol I could set the recording volume which you cant do with internal wav recorders as far as I am aware.

I would l like to know if I could buy any old WAVE recorder and will it sound as good as the edirol or internal one, so I can set the recording volume higher, is a wave recorder just the same as the next, any cheap ones that will do the job?

please listen to below mp3, not me playing, but its of the new roland hp507 and after putting it in audacity etc.. I realised its too quiet, I think you can tell from listening to it that the overall recording volume is far too low, for example you couldnt sell an mp3 or CD with this low level recording on.....would you agree?
