It sounds like a digital keyboard that she was playing on... Maybe it was a cheap non-weighted keyboard that she had to play on? I know my playing sounds like that if I had to play on a keyboard with those small plastic keys... Just giving her the benefit of the doubt. :-P
Well, sort of sort of know. I've met him a few times, and close friends of mine have worked closely with him. I call that "sort of sort of know."
And BTW I don't think he was her actual teacher, but just coached her for that. I figured I'd better mention that, to avoid him getting too smeared by this....
When the original video was posted on the Pianist Corner, there was actual filming of the announcement by the emcee and the subsequent "performance" by the contestant and, bad as it was, it was on an acoustic grand and the sound was much better than on this video. I recall that, though much shortened, the excerpt was closer to the original score than this is; it seems this has been "doctored" to make it even worse than it originally was. I am not about to go searching for the original, however.
