Hey thanks! Being from Victoria, you might not be acquainted with the white stuff outside the window in the first image . Can you believe it's still there!?!?

What's so bad about that - the string terminates eventually, right? It's sort of like a maze...

Well, it looks to me like the string termination loops are definitely not right, or at least not “orthodox†or the norm (sloppy might be a good description). However, as Terminaldegree stated, the strings do terminate somewhere. I doubt the tuning stability on those particular notes would be very good.
On some high end pianos, all the plain wire is twisted/tied off individually and not looped. That is certainly more time consuming and laborious. The advantage of that (single tied wire) is perhaps some added tuning stability and the fact that if one string breaks, you don’t lose two as a result.
There is no excuse for sloppy work.

Yeah! hate when that happens. How are things at the tuning pins?
"Imagine it in all its primatic colorings, its counterpart in our souls - our souls that are great pianos whose strings, of honey and of steel, the divisions of the rainbow set twanging, loosing on the air great novels of adventure!" - William Carlos Williams

Yeah! hate when that happens. How are things at the tuning pins? I should have thought to take pictures of that, too. Total s&%t show; some pins have 5 coils, others have one or two, and they're not neatly done, either (except the original strings, and the ones I replaced). This piano was an absolute nightmare to work on (I even tuned it to a lower pitch as a precaution).

Fun photo of 4 Steinway D's and 2 Bosendorfer Imperials currently in our shop. I have some other photos on our Facebook page, but I was able to get up on a catwalk for this one.

Wow placing 6 of these on the parking lot outside! Was that to get the dust out of the pianos? ;-)

Dear Sam, The Imperial that is second from the right - it looks beautiful, but somehow there is something missing. I cannot quite put my fingers on it. I am sorry to dampen your photo, but I wouldn't want you to string us along.

I am new to the site and ran across these beautiful photos. I can say for certain that it has given me a case of piano envy! I am searching for the right one (for me) and wake up at night thinking about it! Thanks for sharing your love for your instruments, as it surely shines through!
