One of my favorites is "there is no such thing as a wrong note". When I researched the quote to see who said it originally, there are numerous artists/musicians that hold that title… Jack Jackson, Rhona Mae Arca, Charley Parker, Miles Davis, Barney McClure, Ella Fitzgerald, etc… So, as far as I’m concerned, “there is no such thing as a wrong note”. Makes me feel a lot better about my piano playing. Rick

My hands hurt just reading that. That sounds like an awful lot of practice!

I love that line too....which makes me think both amateurs and professionals should practice 'til their arms and fingers hurt! If we didn't get better, at least we'd be too tired to care.

Those tag lines are great little quips of insight. I heard mine from Valentina Lisitsa, fantastic pianist...not sure if she got it from somewhere else but I liked it and immediately embraced it.
Btw, I'm so glad to have found this forum. Everyone's knowledge here is incredible and I've already learned so much. I look forward to the continuing education!

Thank you for this, pianovann.
I think I will post this in my teaching room. Any idea who said it first?
Thanks

Thanks Here's another for your teaching room. I can't remember where I saw this, but I think it was from another teacher. Remember, practice is cumulative! (Font size=20) . . .the more you practice , the better you will become! (Font size=10) . . . and the better you become, the more you will enjoy playing!(Font size=12) . . . and the more you enjoy playing, the more you will practice!(Font size=16) . . . and the more you practice, the better . . .(Font size=24) Each line was indented more than the previous one and with progressively larger fonts.
